Abstract Antibiotics are recognised as, on occasion, producing psychiatric side effects, most notably depression and anxiety. Apart from antimicrobial activity, antibiotics have multiple off‐target effects. The brain–gut–microbiota axis has sites for which may produce either positive or negative antibiotic Here we review how impact mental health by acting through the axis. Microbes in gut influence brain function vagus nerve altering production of short‐chain fatty acids amino acid tryptophan, building block serotonin. Not all actions a impact. first antidepressant discovered was actually an antibiotic: isoniazid is antibacterial drug developed treating tuberculosis. Minocycline, enters mediates its effects microglia, shows activity. Some bring about significant decrease microbial diversity, this viewed as risk factor depression. Other factors induced include altered barrier function, activation hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis, reducing levels brain‐derived neurotrophic oxytocin alteration vagal tone. Although patients taking do not suffer iatrogenic disorder, some do. Probiotics are beneficial active microorganisms that colonize the human intestines and change composition of flora in particular parts host. Recently, use probiotics to regulate intestinal improve host immunity has received widespread attention. Recent evidence shown play significant roles gut microbiota composition, which can inhibit colonization pathogenic bacteria intestine, help build a healthy mucosa protective layer, enhance immune system. Based on close relationship between immunity, it become an extremely effective way by regulating microbiome with probiotics. In this review, we discussed influence probiotics, microbiota, life quality. We further emphasized regulation microflora through thereby enhancing improving people’s lives.

Prebiotics and probiotics play a positive role in promoting human nutrition health. are compounds that cannot be digested by the host, but can used fermented probiotics, so as to promote reproduction metabolism of intestinal for health body. It has been confirmed have clinical or care functions preventing controlling intestinal, respiratory, urogenital infections, allergic reaction, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable syndrome other aspects. However, there few systematic summaries these types, mechanisms action promotion relationship between prebiotics probiotic. Therefore, we summarized various types their individual mechanisms, mechanism tract. is hoped this review provide new ideas application future.

The gut microbiota and its homeostasis play a crucial role in human health. However, for some diseases related to the microbiota, current traditional medicines can only relieve symptoms, it is difficult solve root causes or even cause side effects like disturbances microbiota. Increasing clinical studies evidences have demonstrated that probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics prevent treat various diseases, but currently they be used as dietary supplements rather than medicines, which restricts application of probiotics field medicine. Here, this review analyzes importance health problems systematically summarizes effectiveness mechanisms maintaining treating based on animal models trials. And research outcomes development trends field, challenges prospects their health, alleviating are analyzed. It hoped promote disease treatment open up new frontiers probiotic research.

Hepatosteatosis is the earliest stage in pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty (NAFLD) and alcoholic liver disease (ALD). As NAFLD affecting 10–24% general population approximately 70% obese patients, it carries a large economic burden becoming major reason for transplantation worldwide. ALD cause morbidity mortality causing 50% cirrhosis 10% cancer related death. Increasing evidence has accumulated that gut-derived factors play crucial role development progression chronic diseases. A selective literature search was conducted Medline PubMed, using terms "nonalcoholic disease," "alcoholic "lipopolysaccharide," "gut barrier," "microbiome." Gut dysbiosis gut barrier dysfunction both contribute to by abnormal regulation gut-liver axis. Thereby, lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are key factor inducing inflammatory response tissue. The review further underlines endotoxemia observed patients. LPS plays an important conducting damage through LPS-TLR4 signaling pathway. Treatments targeting microbiome such as fecal microbiota (FMT), probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) represent potential treatment modalities ALD. axis disease. have shown beneficial effects attenuating inflammation need be investigated.

This study aimed to evaluate the attenuating effect of Lactobacillus plantarum DP189 on α-synuclein (α-SYN) aggregates in substantia nigra (SN) Parkinson's disease (PD) mice via 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced. Our results indicated that L. increased levels superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxide (GSH-Px), and interleukin-10 (IL-10) decreased malondialdehyde (MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β). Moreover, reduced α-SYN accumulation SN. Mechanistically, activated expression nuclear factor erythroid 2-related (Nrf2)/ARE PGC-1α pathways suppressed NLRP3 inflammasome. Furthermore, fecal analysis showed reshaped gut microbiota PD by reducing number pathogenic bacteria (Proteobacteria Actinobacteria) abundance probiotics (Lactobacillus Prevotella). suggested could delay neurodegeneration caused SN suppressing oxidative stress, repressing proinflammatory response, modulating microbiota.
