Abstract
Purpose
This
study
investigated
the
associations
between
retrospective
reports
of
body
image
victimization
(i.e.
shaming)
perpetrated
by
peers
and
parents
during
childhood
or
adolescence,
food
alcohol
disturbance
(FAD)
in
young
adulthood,
considering
possible
mediating
role
psychological
distress
subthreshold
symptoms
anxiety
depression).
Methods
The
involved
1624
adults
aged
18
30
(69%
women),
who
completed
an
online
survey.
Results
Our
findings
revealed
that
participants
reported
more
frequent
episodes
adolescence
exhibited
higher
levels
and,
turn,
scores
FAD
adulthood.
Conclusions
result
represents
a
novel
contribution
to
understanding
correlates
youths.
Limitations
implications
are
discussed.

cross-sectional

Background:
Existing
evidence
showed
that
social
anxiety
represents
a
significant
factor
in
eating
disorders.

Adolescence
is

vulnerable
period

development

eating
disorders,

there

disparities
in

risk
among
