Academic Stress and Burnout Reduction Through Mandala-Coloring and Grit-Enhancing: School-Based Interventions for Adolescents DOI Creative Commons

This quasi-experimental study evaluated the effectiveness of two school-based interventions aiming to reduce academic stress and alleviate burnout symptoms. Using cluster sampling, a total 128 middle schoolers (Mage = 13.48, 42.2% female) from classes in rural Henan Province, China, participated this study. One class served as control group (n 61), while other was randomly assigned intervention groups: mandala-coloring 31) grit-enhancing 32). ANCOVA ANOVAs were conducted detect any significant changes. The results showed that significantly reduced (F 5.741, p 0.004, η2p 0.085), no changes observed burnout. In group, within-group increase grit levels found. These findings suggest mandala coloring may serve time-efficient method for alleviating among adolescents. Implications addressing school settings are discussed.
