Abstract In late June to early July 2021 a heatwave of unprecedented magnitude impacted the Pacific Northwest region, lands colonially named British Columbia (BC) and Alberta (AB) in Canada, Washington (WA) Oregon (OR) United States. Many locations broke all-time maximum daily temperature records by more than 5°C. The standing Canadian national record was broken on three consecutive days, at multiple locations, with highest 49.6°C recorded, 4.6°C higher previous record. Weather forecasts provided advanced notice severity event, while sub-seasonal showed substantially increased likelihood atmospheric blocking high temperatures 10-day lead times, some skill out 18 days. impacts this event were catastrophic. Estimates indicate least 900 attributable deaths occurred across BC, WA OR, likely deadliest weather Canadian1 history. heat contributed mass-mortalities marine life, reduced crop fruit yields, river flooding from rapid snow glacier melt, increase wildfires—the latter contributing devastating landslides months following.

Maintaining abilities, including safe walking movement, significantly contributes perception in old One early signs declining limited mobility. Approximately one third 70-year-olds most 80-year-olds report restrictions mobility apartments immediate surroundings. Restriction or loss a complex multifactorial process, which makes prone falls, injuries, hospitalizations worsens quality life while overall mortality. Objective The objective study identify factors that have had significant impact recent years currently, gaps our understanding these factors. aims highlight areas where further research needed new effective solutions are required. Methods PRISMA methodology was used conduct scoping review Scopus Web Science databases. Papers published from 2007 2021 were searched November 2021. Of these, 52 papers selected initial 788 outputs for final analysis. Results analyzed, key determinants found be environmental, physical, cognitive, psychosocial, confirms findings previous studies. determinant technological. New lie interactions between different mobility, addressing environmental factors, exploring opportunities context emerging technologies, such as integration smart home design accessible age-friendly public spaces, development policies regulations, exploration innovative financing models support assistive technologies into lives seniors. Conclusion For an comprehensive solution senior cannot solved separately. Physical, technological can often perceived cause/motivation Further help arrive at determinants, which, turn, will improve Future studies should investigate financial aspects, especially since many expensive not commonly available, limits use.

The effect specifically on subjective cognition social functioning PwPD is poorly understood. We conducted a longitudinal analysis changes cognitive before (T1, 2017–2019) during (T2, 2021) pandemic. Methods: At T1, 347 completed online surveys. T2, 123 them (54 males, 69 females) responded to follow-up questionnaires including Quality Life Neurological Disorders (Neuro-QoL) subscales, Beck Depression Inventory-II, Anxiety Scale, motor non-motor experiences daily living from MDS-Unified Disease Rating Coronavirus Impact Scale. Results: T1–T2 declines both were correlated more anxiety, fatigue, symptoms. Additionally, depression, decline functioning. Women reported greater impact than men, unrelated functioning; personal experience was associated cognition. Conclusions: Our finding that are different symptoms PD suggests impacts complex, which has important implications for treatment.
