The production of MOFs at the nanoscale (NMOFs) offers possibility creating innovative materials for bioapplications as long they maintain properties their larger counterparts. Abstract The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) represents a cornerstone for many clean energy conversion technologies such as fuel cells and metal‐air batteries. Nevertheless, the commercialization of these is largely impeded by slow kinetics ORR, which active, durable cost‐effective ORR catalysts are needed. In recent years, zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) derived carbon materials emerge new class non‐precious metal (NPMCs) toward benefiting from their high surface area, abundant porosity, tunable chemical/electronic structure, superior activity comparable or even surpasses those state‐of‐the‐art Pt‐based catalysts. This review offers comprehensive overview advances in ZIF‐derived carbons ORR. synthesis strategies key factors affecting performance discussed. Future research directions perspectives on exploring ZIF efficient highlighted, with focus principles rationally engineering coordination structures active sites.
