Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a systemic inflammatory that leads to multiple organ complications not only in the kidneys and cardiovascular system, but also oral cavity. CKD children experience reduced saliva secretion (hyposalivation), which increased incidence of dental caries significant impairment patients' quality life. However, causes salivary gland dysfunction with are unknown. The present study first evaluate anti-inflammatory profile at different stages renal failure normal function. Methods: Thirty (age 9– 16) thirty age- gender-matched healthy were classified for study. Salivary assayed using multiplex ELISA assay. Results: We demonstrated statistically changes pro-inflammatory (↑TNF-α, ↓IL-7), (↑IL-10), Th1 (↑INF-γ, ↑IL-15), Th2 (↑IL-4, ↑IL-5, ↑IL-6, ↑IL-9) Th17 (IL-17) cytokines as well chemokines (↑MCP-1/CCL-2, ↑MIP-1α/CCL3, ↓MIP-1β/CCL4, ↓EOTAXIN/CCL11) growth factors (↑G-CSF, ↑FGF) unstimulated compared controls. Although evaluation does indicate particular dominance any branches immune we observed increase concentration all assayed. multivariate regression analysis showed content cytokines, depends on secretory function glands, ie, flow, total protein amylase activity saliva. MIP-1α/CCL3 was most effective differentiate hyposalivation from patients secretion. Discussion: Inflammation involved CKD, although further studies vitro vivo models necessary confirm this hypothesis. Keywords: chronic disease, saliva, inflammation, dysfunction,

Aging is inextricably linked to oxidative stress, inflammation, and posttranslational protein modifications. However, no studies evaluate oxidation, glycation, carbamylation of salivary biomolecules as biomarkers aging. Saliva collection non-invasive, painless, inexpensive, which are advantages over other biofluids. The study enrolled 180 healthy subjects divided into six groups according age: 6-13, 14-19, 20-39, 40-59, 60-79, 80-100 years. The number individuals was determined a priori based on our previous experiment (power the test = 0.8; α 0.05). Non-stimulated saliva plasma were collected from participants, in aging by colorimetric, fluorometric, ELISA methods. The have demonstrated that modifications proteins increase with age, manifested decreased total thiol levels increased carbonyl groups, glycation (Nε-(carboxymethyl) lysine, advanced end products (AGE)) (carbamyl-lysine) old individuals. Oxidative lipids (4-hydroxynonenal) nucleic acids (8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG)) also age. Salivary redox correlate poorly their levels; however, AGE 8-OHdG generally reflect blood concentrations. In multivariate regression model, they predictor and, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, significantly differentiate children adolescents (under 15 years old) working-age population (15-64 years) older people (65 older).Salivary most excellent diagnostic utility assessing process. can be used body.

Stroke is one of the most common cerebrovascular diseases. Despite significant progress in understanding stroke pathogenesis, cases are still increasing. Thus, laboratory biomarkers sought to allow rapid and non-invasive diagnostics. Ischemia-reperfusion injury an inflammatory process with characteristic cellular changes leading microvascular disruption. Several studies have shown that hyperactivation xanthine oxidase (XO) a major pathogenic factor contributing brain dysfunction. Given critical role XO complications, this study aimed evaluate activity enzyme its metabolic products saliva subjects. Thirty patients subacute phase were included study: 15 hemorrhagic ischemic stroke. The control group consisted 30 healthy subjects similar cerebral regarding age, gender, status periodontium, dentition, oral hygiene. number individuals was determined priori based on our previous experiment (power test = 0.8; α 0.05). material mixed non‐stimulated whole (NWS) stimulated (SWS). We showed activity, specific output significantly higher NWS than controls. Hydrogen peroxide uric acid levels also considerably patients. Using receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis, we demonstrated XO-specific distinguishes from (AUC: 0.764) controls 0.973) very high sensitivity specificity. Saliva collection stress-free, requires no specialized medical personnel, allows continuous monitoring patient’s condition through sampling multiple times per day. Salivary differentiates accuracy (100%) specificity (93.75%) between mild moderate cognitive decline (AUC 0.988). salivary assessment may be potential screening tool for comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation. To summarize, demonstrates utility differential diagnosis

One of the physiological changes that is most closely associated with frailty increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines, and IL-6 particular. Most studies have demonstrated this association using blood samples. We analyzed relationship between syndrome, individual criteria, levels obtained by saliva tests.A cross-sectional pilot study was performed among women institutionalized nursing homes. Frailty defined as having three or more following components: low lean mass, weakness, self-reported exhaustion, activity level, slow walking speed; prefrailty one two those components. There a significant positive correlation score salivary concentration. Regarding associations dichotomized there were differences concentration criteria: weight loss (p = 0.002) physical 0.007). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed significantly < 0.05) (although moderately) discriminated patients progressed syndrome (the area under value 0.697 95% CI 0.566-0.827).Salivary can be used potential biomarker tool to monitor effects interventions frail individuals.

Heart failure (HF) is one of the leading causes death worldwide. HF results not only in cardiovascular dysfunction, but also numerous pathologies oral cavity and salivary glands. The present study first to evaluate whether inflammatory anti-inflammatory factors may be related with occurrence hyposalivation patients. We evaluated potential biomarkers diagnostics HF. included 30 women sex- age-matched healthy controls. demonstrated significantly higher levels pro-inflammatory cytokines, Th1, Th2, Th17, chemokines growth unstimulated saliva patients compared However, do indicate dominance either branch immune response. concentration selected gland dysfunction normal secretion subjects (IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-7, IL-13, INF-γ, IL-12, IL-15, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-17, MCP-1/CCL-2, EOTAXIN/CCL11, RANTES/CCL5, GM-CSF, VEGF, FGF basic, PDFG-BB). Multivariate regression analysis showed that content highly dependent on function, i.e. flow rate, total protein amylase activity. In addition, biomarker reflect plasma content, which suggest a different nature/severity changes at central (blood) local (salivary) levels. Obese people are at increased risk developing NAFLD. Due current lack routine diagnostics, it is extremely important look for new diagnostic methods markers this disease. The aim of the study is to expound effect psoriasis on salivary glands by evaluating secretion saliva and cytokine biomarkers in patients with psoriasis. This was conducted recruiting 120 subjects that included 60 diagnosed clinically active healthy controls who were age gender matched psoriatic subjects. Unstimulated whole collected from all spitting method, levels tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2), IL-10 (IL-10) determined via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (BT Lab, Shanghai, China). Secretion considerably reduced than controls. concentrations pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-2) significantly increased, whereas level anti-inflammatory markedly decreased hyposalivation compared Our results demonstrated significant negative correlation flow rates disease severity. No correlations obtained between tested our study. Findings reflect inflammation patients. inflammatory responses gland tissues virtue increased together lower may have a role affecting unstimulated decreases severity duration disease.
