Individuals with lung cancer (LC) face a variety of symptoms that significantly impact their lives. We use extensive patient input to determine the relative importance and prevalence these identify which demographic features are associated higher level disease burden. We performed semi-structured qualitative interviews participants LC potentially important symptoms. then conducted cross-sectional study, in rated 162 individual covering 14 symptomatic themes. Participant responses were analyzed by age, sex, disability status, duration, stage, type treatment received, smoking history, among other categories. Our study had 139 LC. The most prevalent themes reported this population fatigue (85.5%), impaired sleep daytime sleepiness (73.5%), emotional issues (73.0%). greatest average (on scale 0 4, 4 being impactful) social role dissatisfaction (1.67), inability do activities (1.64), (1.60). Disability status strongest association theme prevalence. stage (stage IV), receipt therapy, experience also frequency themes.Individuals diverse disease-specific affect daily Patient insight on is invaluable advance meaningful therapeutic interventions.

Patients with cancer undergoing chemotherapy frequently experience a neurological condition known as chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment, or “chemobrain,” which can persist for the remainder of their lives. Despite growing prevalence chemobrain, both its underlying mechanisms and treatment strategies remain poorly understood. Recent findings suggest that chemobrain shares several characteristics neurodegenerative diseases, including chronic neuroinflammation, DNA damage, synaptic loss. We investigated whether noninvasive sensory stimulation we term gamma entrainment using stimuli (GENUS), has been shown to alleviate aberrant immune pathologies in mouse models neurodegeneration, could also mitigate phenotypes mice administered chemotherapeutic drug. When concurrently agent cisplatin, GENUS alleviated cisplatin-induced brain pathology, promoted oligodendrocyte survival, improved function model chemobrain. These effects persisted up 105 days after treatment, suggesting potential long-lasting benefits. However, when 90 chemotherapy, only provided limited benefits, indicating it was most effective used prevent progression pathology. Furthermore, demonstrated were not but extended methotrexate-induced Collectively, these may represent versatile approach treating induced by different agents.

Despite the considerable advancements in chemotherapy as a cornerstone modality cancer treatment, prevalence of complications and pre-existing diseases is on rise among patients along with prolonged survival aging population. The relationships between these disorders are intricate, bearing significant influence quality life individuals presenting challenges for prognosis outcomes malignancies. Herein, we review prevailing comorbidities that often accompany summarize lessons to learn from inadequate research management this scenario, an emphasis possible strategies reducing potential alleviating comorbidities, well overview current preclinical models practical advice establishing bio-faithful such complex context.

Abstract Background: The cognitive alterations observed in individuals undergoing cancer treatments have garnered more attention recently. Chemotherapy can reduce nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels by inhibiting phosphoribosyl transferase (NAMPT). This reduction make cells susceptible to oxidative damage and death may also affect non-cancerous cells, particularly the brain cells. During chemotherapy-induced suppression, downregulation of NAMPT-mediated NAD+/Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) pathway cause dyscognition. Objective: study aimed assess role quercetin analogues chemobrain associated mechanisms. Methods: potential its derivatives interaction with NAMPT SIRT1 proteins was performed using computational studies followed their vitro evaluation SH-SY5Y Molecular docking simulation human were performed. Differentiated cell lines treated selected against Methotrexate 5-Fluorouracil (MF) toxicity, subjecting cytotoxicity assay, flow cytometry, RT-PCR analysis. Results: Quercetin, Rutin, Isoquercetin showed interactions necessary activation process both proteins. Cytotoxicity cytometric demonstrated that phytochemicals shield differentiated from MF toxicity. As determined investigations, gene mRNA expression higher test drug-treated at (0.12, 0.6 µM), rutin, isoquercetin (16, 80 µM) lower MF-treated Conclusion: treatment alleviated CICI targeting proteins, which could lead identification effective strategies for chemobrain. Multiple myeloma is a haematological malignancy characterized by significant morbidity and mortality. This study sought to develop an in-depth understanding of patients' lived experiences relapsed or refractory multiple (RRMM) its treatment, identify which features treatment were most important them.Qualitative interviews focus groups (FGs) conducted with 32 people living RRMM across Canada. In Phase 1, focused on participants' accounts their the disease laid groundwork for FGs (Phase 2). The developed deeper priorities. Interview FG transcripts coded emergent themes patterns. The identified side effects that had impacts lives, including physical, cognitive, psychological/emotional effects. Participants also specific (attributes) them. These compiled into list used in understand Higher prioritized attributes were: life expectancy, physical cognitive effects, financial impact. Mode administration, intervals, psychological sleep/mood as lower priorities.RRMM treatments impact importantly quality-of-life range domains. Patients could enhance minimize offset burdens.A clear articulation patient priorities can contribute efforts design concerns mind, thereby promoting more patient-centered approach care.

As COVID-19 cases exceed hundreds of millions globally, many survivors face cognitive challenges and prolonged symptoms. However, important questions about the effects remain unresolved. In this cross-sectional online study, 478 adult volunteers who self-reported a positive test for (mean = 30 days since most recent test) perform significantly worse than pre-pandemic norms on measures processing speed, reasoning, verbal, overall performance, but not short-term memory, suggesting domain-specific deficits. Cognitive differences are even observed in participants did require hospitalization. Factor analysis health- COVID-related questionnaires reveals two clusters symptoms-one that varies mostly with physical symptoms illness severity, one mental health. performance is positively correlated global measure encompassing symptoms, broadly describes health, subjective experience "long COVID" relates to deficits, especially executive dysfunction.

Abstract Neuroinflammation is a process triggered by an attack on the immune system. Activation of microglia in response to system challenge can lead significant impact cognitive processes, such as learning, memory and emotional regulation. Long Covid ongoing problem, affecting estimated 1.3 million people within UK alone, one its more significant, yet unexplained, symptoms brain fog. Here, we discuss potential role neuroinflammation difficulties. Inflammatory cytokines have been found play reductions LTP LTD, reduction neurogenesis, dendritic sprouting. The behavioural consequences impacts are discussed. It hoped that this article will allow for greater examination effects inflammatory factors function, most particularly terms their chronic conditions.
