In
the
past
decade
there
has
been
increased
interest
in
research
on
color
and
psychological
functioning.
Important
advances
have
made
theoretical
work
empirical
work,
but
are
also
important
weaknesses
both
areas
that
must
be
addressed
for
literature
to
continue
develop
apace.
this
article,
I
provide
brief
overviews
of
area,
each
instance
beginning
with
a
historical
background
recent
advancements,
proceeding
an
evaluation
focused
guidelines
future
research.
conclude
by
reiterating
functioning
is
at
nascent
stage
development,
recommending
patience
prudence
regarding
conclusions
about
theory,
findings,
real-world
application.

for

lighting.

Light,

a

effects
on
human
physiology
and
behavior

alter

timed.
One
example

disruption
is

circadian
organization,

light-dark
exposure
(e.g.,

desynchronized

National
Institute
Environmental
Health
Sciences
convened
workshop

scientists

best

research

connections
between
lighting
health.

workshop,
there
are
three
broad
areas
effort
need
be
addressed.
First
basic
biophysical
molecular
genetic
mechanisms
phototransduction
circadian,
neuroendocrine,
neurobehavioral
regulation.
Second
consequences
disrupting
regulatory
processes
as
production,
particularly
melatonin,
normal
neoplastic
tissue
growth
dynamics.
Third
disease
occurrence
prognosis,
prevention
treatment
could
improved
application
this
knowledge.
