ABSTRACT Background Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for pediatric end‐stage renal disease. Transplant recipients often have better neurocognitive, academic, and health‐related outcomes. While there some evidence that quality life (HRQOL) improves following kidney transplant, other studies found adolescent transplant report lower overall HRQOL than healthy peers. Current research has focused on individual‐level factors affecting adjustment to organ warranting examination from a systems perspective. Family environment social support contribute system proximal relationships are crucial in adolescents' development, making them important study relation post‐transplant. Methods The current utilized archival data patients who completed surveys about their family environment, support, during routine clinic visits. Results cohesion, as well parents, classmates, people school, were positively correlated with HRQOL. Social school uniquely predicted variance HRQOL, beyond contribution after controlling demographic factors. Relative comparable samples, reported more optimal greater teachers, close friends.
