Although studies had shown that Insulin resistance (IR) was correlated with the occurrence of sarcopenia, there were still many controversial conclusions. Therefore, we conducted a more comprehensive study on relationship between estimated glucose disposal rate (eGDR), an alternative indicator IR, and risk muscle mass, strength to clarify their interactions. The Study included individuals from China Health Retirement Longitudinal (CHARLS) who complete eGDR data at baseline did not develop low mass strength. divided into four subgroups based quartile (Q) eGDR. lowest (Q1) used as reference. Logistic regression linear evaluate sarcopenia (low strength, possible sarcopenia) related features (ASM/Ht2, grip, RMS), respectively. In addition, further evaluated nonlinear using smooth curve fitting threshold effect analysis. results showed after adjusting for confounders, negatively associated positively characteristics. men significant reduction in likelihood compared women. Previous studies have shown that type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can cause sarcopenia; however, these conditions may a bidirectional association. This study aimed to explore the longitudinal association between possible sarcopenia and new-onset T2DM.We conducted population-based cohort using nationally representative data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). included participants aged ≥ 60 years who were free of during baseline survey CHARLS (2011 2012) followed up until 2018. Possible status was defined according Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 criteria. Cox proportional hazards regression models used evaluate effect on T2DM.In total, 3,707 individuals enrolled in this study, with median age 66 years; prevalence 45.1%. During 7-year follow-up, 575 cases (15.5%) incident identified. Participants more likely T2DM than those without (hazard ratio: 1.27, 95% confidence interval: 1.07-1.50; p = 0.006). In subgroup analysis, we found significant < 75 or BMI 24 kg/m². However, not kg/m².Possible is associated an increased risk older adults, especially are overweight younger.

Abstract This review will try to elucidate the interconnected pathophysiology of sarcopenia and type 2 diabetes (T2D) identify a common pathway explain their development. To this end, PubMed Scopus databases were searched for articles published about underlying pathophysiology, diagnosis treatment both T2D. The medical subject heading (MeSH) terms ‘sarcopenia’ AND ‘diabetes mellitus’ (‘physiopathology’ OR ‘diagnosis’ ‘therapeutics’ ‘aetiology’ ‘causality’) used. After screening, 32 papers included. It was evident that T2D share multiple pathophysiological mechanisms. Common changes in muscle architecture consist shift myocyte composition, increased myosteatosis decreased capacity regeneration. Further, diseases are linked an imbalance myokine sex hormone production. Chronic low‐grade inflammation levels oxidative stress also known contributors. In future, research efforts should be directed towards discovering checkpoints development as possible shared therapeutic targets diseases. Current with biguanides, incretins insulin may already convey protective effect on sarcopenia. Furthermore, attention given early within population people T2D, sizeable physical burden it encompasses. A combination simple diagnostic techniques could used at regular check‐ups stage start lifestyle modifications soon possible.
