The microbiota–gut–brain axis plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of major depressive disorder (MDD) and related subclinical symptoms. However, studies on gut microbiota MDD are inconsistent, data MDD's effects sleep lacking. This study aimed to analyze composition quality patients with MDD. We performed 16S rRNA sequencing stool samples from 36 45 healthy controls (HC). Sleep was assessed using Pittsburgh Quality Index, severity Hamilton Depression Scale, insomnia Insomnia Severity Index. Forty-eight targets showed significant differences between HC. In MDD, six were associated depression, 11 quality, 3 severity. At genus level, Dorea simultaneously depression while Intestinibacter more closely problems. Coprococcus independent depression. conclusion, present findings enable better understanding relationship MDD-related Gut alterations may become potential biomarkers and/or treatment for

Mental disorders and neurological diseases have brought rapidly increasing medical burdens. Although extensive researches been conducted hugely, effective therapies still progressing slowly. Current dilemma reminds us that the human is a superorganism. Only if we take self its partner microbiota into consideration at same time can better understand these diseases. Over last few centuries, has experienced tremendous changes much more than own genes because of modern transformations in diet, lifestyle, care, so on, paralleling epidemiological transition. Existing research indicates gut plays an important role this According to gut–brain psychology, crucial part gut–brain, it communicates with brain via microbiota–gut–brain axis. The almost develops synchronously brain, mind. Gut influences various normal mental processes phenomena they are involved pathophysiology numerous Targeting therapy for promising approach supported by three theories: hypothesis, "old friend" leaky theory. effects behavior fulfilled through microbiota-gut-brain axis which mainly composed nervous pathway, endocrine immune pathway. Undoubtedly, psychology will bring great enhancement neuroscience, psychiatry. Over the last 10 years, there has been a growing interest in relationship between gut microbiota, brain, and neurologic-associated affections. As multiple preclinical clinical research studies highlight microbiota’s potential to modulate general state of health state, it goes without saying that microbiota plays significant role neurogenesis, mental cognitive development, emotions, behaviors, progression neuropsychiatric illnesses. Gut produces important biologic products that, through gut-brain axis, are directly connected with appearance evolution neurological psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, autism, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s dementia, sclerosis, epilepsy. This study reviews recent on link microbiome’s shaping development most common Moreover, special attention is paid use probiotic formulations non-invasive therapeutic opportunity for prevention management neuropsychiatric-associated

The microbiota-gut-brain axis has emerged as a novel target in depression, disorder with low treatment efficacy. However, the field is dominated by underpowered studies focusing on major depression not addressing microbiome functionality, compositional nature, or confounding factors. We applied multi-omics approach combining pre-clinical models three human cohorts including patients mild depression. Microbial functions and metabolites converging onto glutamate/GABA metabolism, particularly proline, were linked to High proline consumption was dietary factor strongest impact Whole-brain dynamics revealed rich club network disruptions associated circulating proline. Proline supplementation mice exacerbated along microbial translocation. Human microbiota transplantation induced an emotionally impaired phenotype alterations GABA-, proline-, extracellular matrix-related prefrontal cortex genes. RNAi-mediated knockdown of GABA transporters Drosophila mono-association L. plantarum, high producer, conferred protection against depression-like states. Targeting may open new windows for efficient treatment.

The involvement of the gut microbiota and metabolites colon-residing bacteria in brain disease pathogenesis has been covered a growing number studies, but comparative literature is scarce. To fill this gap, we explored contribution microbiota-gut-brain axis to pathophysiology seven brain-related diseases (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's major depressive bipolar disorder). In article, discussed changes bacterial abundance metabolic implications these on development progression. Our central findings indicate that, mechanistically, all are associated with leaky gut, neuroinflammation, over-activated microglial cells, which gut-residing their important contributors. Patients show pro-inflammatory shift colon microbiota, harbouring more Gram-negative containing immune-triggering lipopolysaccharides (LPS) cell walls. addition, properties (

The clinical course and outcome of COVID-19 are highly variable, ranging from asymptomatic infections to severe disease death. Understanding the risk factors is relevant both in setting at epidemiological level. Here, we provide an overview host, viral environmental that have been shown or (in some cases) hypothesized be associated with outcomes. considered detail include age frailty, genetic polymorphisms, biological sex (and pregnancy), co- superinfections, non-communicable comorbidities, immunological history, microbiota, lifestyle patient; variation infecting dose; socioeconomic factors; air pollution. For each category, compile (sometimes conflicting) evidence for association factor outcomes (including strength effect) outline possible action mechanisms. We also discuss complex interactions between various factors.

Neurological diseases are recognized as major causes of disability and mortality worldwide. Due to the dynamic progress such Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Schizophrenia, Depression, Multiple Sclerosis (MD), scientists mobilized look for new more effective methods interventions. A growing body evidence suggests that inflammatory processes an imbalance in composition function gut microbiome, which play a critical role pathogenesis various neurological dietary interventions, Mediterranean diet DASH diet, or ketogenic can have beneficial effects on their course. The aim this review was take closer at its ingredients modulating inflammation associated with development and/or progression central nervous system diseases. Presented data shows consuming abundant fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs, spices, legumes sources anti-inflammatory elements omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols, vitamins, essential minerals, probiotics while avoiding foods promote inflammation, create positive brain environment is reduced risk Personalized nutritional interventions may constitute non-invasive strategy combating disorders.
