The GC-MS analysis reported n-hexadecanoic acid or palmitic as a major component of the ethanolic extract Halymenia durvillei (HDET). This compound shows cytotoxic effects against various human cancer cells. present study investigated effect HDET on viability and proliferation MDA-MB-231, triple-negative breast (TNBC) cell line.Cell cycle were determined by flow cytometry regulatory protein expression levels then Western blotting. presence reactive oxygen species (ROS) was evaluated dichlorofluorescein, followed analyzing changes in gene antioxidant enzymes using real-time polymerase chain reaction.HDET dose-dependently reduced with 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) 269.4 ± 31.2 µg/mL at 24 h. assays showed increased succinimidyl ester fluorescent intensity after treatment ≥ 100 HDET, indicating inhibition proliferation. Cell propidium iodide staining an percentage cells G2/M phase. also decreased proteins including cyclin D1 level p21. promoted oxidative stress increasing ROS along reduction catalase expression. However, did not induce apoptosis caspase activation TNBC cells. These findings suggest that which is rich may serve potential therapeutic agent to target via arrest progression

In the gastric mucosa, chronic inflammation due to Helicobacter pylori infection promotes gastrocarcinogenesis. Polysaccharides of Caulerpa lentillifera are well-characterized by broad antimicrobial activity and anti-inflammatory potentials. The present study was undertaken investigate whether low molecular sulfate polysaccharides C. (CLCP) exhibit any anti-adhesive against H. pylori. After a hot water extraction purification process, two purified polysaccharide fractions (CLCP-1 CLCP2) were studied based on structural characterization bioactivity determination. results implied that except for molar ratio, CLCP-1 CLCP-2 contain high sulfate, mannose, galactose, xylose, glucose levels, protein levels. weight Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) assays confirmed with an average (Mw) 963.15 648.42 kDa, respectively. addition, exhibited stronger antibacterial could significantly promote macrophage proliferation decrease production nitric oxide (NO) through downregulated expression inducible synthase (iNOS). Meanwhile, in this showed efficiently protected adenocarcinoma (AGS) cells inhibition IL-8/NF-κB axis. These findings suggested effect adhesion, potential supply nutrients eradication therapy reduction cell count inflammation.

Seaweed aquaculture has become a profitable and an attractive alternative of cultivation thanks to its quick biomass production for food, feed, other non-food applications. In addition, the ecosystem services generated by seaweed towards carbon fixation represents more sustainable solution ocean's acidification. The growth elkhorn sea moss (Kappaphycus alvarezii) was evaluated in three plots with 200 propagules during period 70 days floating raft system covered fishing net underneath. Initial weight 159.3 ± 12.74 g wet 15.3 1.43 dry were sampled up 19 (in lag phase; I), 33 exponential II) stationarity III). variations surface water temperature, salinity, turbidity (Secchi depth), total ammonium, nitrites, nitrates, phosphate determined. increase evident phase II when 28.0 2.48 (1153.3 6.25 mass) reached, than 7 times average daily rate 15.2% g.day-1. carrying capacity zone estimated at 86.2% area where 53 units would be projected. economic analysis presented financial feasibility profit 19% over projected income IRR 16.5%, recovering investment 4.3 years. The genome sequence of the strain (genome size 3.95 Mbp) showed presence four putative biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs), namely, two terpene clusters, one aryl polyene cluster, and type III PKS cluster. Genomic analysis revealed 79 sulfatase-encoded genes, 24 sulfatase-like hydrolase/transferase-encoded 25 arylsulfatase-encoded indicated great potential 5K15T degrade sulfated polysaccharides.
