Green alga Caulerpa racemosa is an underexploited species of macroalgae, even though it characterized by a green color that indicates abundance bioactive pigments, such as chlorophyll and possibly xanthophyll. Unlike chlorophyll, which has been well explored, the composition carotenoids C. its biological activities have not reported. Therefore, this study aims to look at carotenoid profile racemose determine their activities, include antidiabetic, anti-obesity, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxicity in vitro. The detected were all xanthophylls, included fucoxanthin, lutein, astaxanthin, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin based on orbitrap-mass spectrometry (MS) rapid ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) diode array detector. Of seven observed, should be highlighted β-carotene canthaxanthin two most dominant present racemosa. Interestingly, extract good activity inhibiting α-glucosidase, α-amylase, DPPH ABTS, TNF-α mTOR, upregulating AMPK, makes drug candidate or functional antidiabetic food, very promising anti-obesity anti-inflammatory. More interestingly, value shows level safety normal cells, potential for further development nutraceuticals pharmaceuticals.

This study evaluated the effects of an aqueous extract Caulerpa racemosa (AEC) on cardiometabolic syndrome markers, and modulation gut microbiome in mice administered a cholesterol- fat-enriched diet (CFED). Four groups received different treatments: normal diet, CFED, CFED added with AEC at 65 130 mg/kg body weight (BW). The effective concentration (EC50) values for 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), lipase inhibition were lower than those controls vitro. In model, administration high-dose showed improved lipid blood glucose profiles reduction endothelial dysfunction markers (PRMT-1 ADMA). Furthermore, correlation between specific microbiomes biomarkers associated diseases was also observed. vitro studies highlighted antioxidant properties AEC, while vivo data demonstrated that plays role management via regulation oxidative stress, inflammation, function (PRMT-1/DDAH/ADMA pathway), microbiota.

Algae are a rich source of bioactive compounds that have wide range beneficial effects on human health and can show significant potential in the treatment hematological malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma. These diseases often pose therapeutic challenge despite recent advances (e.g., use immunomodulatory drugs, proteasome inhibitors, CD38 monoclonal antibodies, stem cell transplant, targeted therapy). A considerable number patients experience relapses or resistance to applied therapies. Algal compounds, alone combination with chemotherapy other more advanced therapies, exhibited antitumor preclinical studies may improve disease outcomes. include ability induce apoptosis, inhibit tumor growth, immune responses. However, most these conducted vitro, without vivo validation clinical trials. This paper summarizes current evidence vitro algae extracts isolated myeloma lines. In addition, we address application algae-derived drug carriers their synergistic against hematologic malignancies.

Green algae are natural bioresources that have excellent bioactive potential, partly due to sulfated polysaccharides (SPs) which still rarely explored for their biological activities. There is currently an urgent need studies exploring the anticancer activity of SPs extracted from two Indonesian ulvophyte green algae: polysaccharide Caulerpa racemosa (SPCr) and lentillifera (SPCl). The method isolating assessment activities in this study were based on previous similar studies. highest yield sulfate/total sugar ratio was presented by SPCr than SPCl. Overall, exhibits a strong antioxidant activity, as indicated smaller EC50 values obtained series assays compared Trolox (control). As anti-obesity antidiabetic, overall value both close positive control (orlistat acarbose). Even more interesting SPCl displayed wide-ranging effects colorectal, hepatoma, breast cancer cell lines, leukemia. Finally, reveals new insights potential be promising nutraceuticals novel antioxidative actors, able fight obesity, diabetes, even cancer.
