Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) poses an emerging threat topublic health. steatohepatitis (NASH) is reported to be the most rapidly rising cause of hepatocellular carcinoma in western world. Recently, a new term has been proposed: metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic (MASLD). The introduction this terminology sparked debate about interchangeability these terms. pathogenesis NAFLD/MASLD thought multifactorial, involving both genetic and environmental factors. Among factors, alterations gut microbiota dysbiosis have recently garnered significant attention. In context, review will further discuss gut-liver axis, which refers bidirectional interaction between human liver. Additionally, therapeutic potential probiotics, particularly next-generation probiotics genetically engineered bacteria, explored. Moreover, role prebiotics, synbiotics, postbiotics, phages as well fecal transplantation analyzed. Particularly for lean patients with NAFLD/MASLD, who limited treatment options, approaches that modify diversity composition may hold promise. However, due ongoing safety concerns modulate microbiota, large-scale studies are necessary better assess their efficacy treating NAFLD/MASLD.

Abstract Obesity is a global health issue characterized by the excessive fat accumulation, leading to an increased risk of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), including metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), which can progress from simple steatosis steatohepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Currently, there are no approved pharmacological protocols for prevention/treatment MAFLD, due complexity lying beneath these mechanisms, monotherapies unlikely be efficacious. This review article analyzes possibility that NCDs prevented or attenuated combination bioactive substances, as they could promote higher response rates, maximum reaction results, additive synergistic effects compounds having similar different mechanisms action and/or refraining possible side effects, related use lower doses exposures times than monotherapies. Accordingly, prevention mouse MAFLD observed with omega‐3 docosahexaenoic acid antioxidant hydroxytyrosol, whereas attenuation mild cognitive impairment attained folic plus cobalamin in elderly patients. The existence several drawbacks underlying published combined trials, opens space adequate stricter experimental clinical tryouts achieve meaningful outcomes human applicability.

The pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a degenerative retinopathy, remains unclear. Administration anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agents, antioxidants, fundus lasers, photodynamic therapy, and transpupillary warming has proven effective in alleviating symptoms; however, these interventions cannot prevent or reverse AMD. Increasing evidence suggests that AMD risk is linked to changes the composition, abundance, diversity gut microbiota (GM). Activation multiple signaling pathways by GM metabolites, including lipopolysaccharides, oxysterols, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), bile (BAs), influences retinal physiology. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), known for its multi-component multi-target advantages, can help treat altering composition regulating levels certain substances, such as reducing increasing SCFA BA contents. This review explores correlation between two provide new perspectives on treating with TCM.

Metabolism-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), a growing health problem worldwide, is one of the major risks for development cirrhosis and cancer. Oral administration nobiletin (NOB), natural citrus flavonoid, modulates gut microbes their metabolites in mice. In present study, we established mouse model MAFLD by subjecting mice to high-fat diet (HFD) 12 weeks. Throughout this timeframe, NOB was administered investigate its potential benefits on microbial balance bile acid (BA) metabolism using various techniques, including 16S rRNA sequencing, targeted metabolomics BA, biological assays. effectively slowed progression reducing serum lipid levels, blood glucose LPS hepatic IL-1β TNF-α levels. Furthermore, reinstated diversity within community, increasing population bacteria that produce salt hydrolase (BSH) enhance BA excretion. By exploring further, found downregulated expression farnesoid X receptor (FXR) associated small heterodimer partner (SHP), it increased downstream enzymes, cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) cytochrome P450 27A1 (CYP27A1). This acceleration conversion contributes mitigating MAFLD. The findings underscore significant role regulating metabolism, revealing long-term intake plays beneficial roles prevention or intervention

Abstract Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic disease, but there currently no effective treatment method. Probiotics have been used as an adjunct therapy for NAFLD, the mechanism not clear. This study Bifidobacterium longum BL19 (BL‐19) to treat NAFLD mice induced by high‐fat diet, and explored through gut microbiota serum metabolomics techniques. We found that BL‐19 effectively prevented rapid weight gain in reduced their overall food energy intake, decreased inflammatory factors expressions, increased bile acid synthetase enzyme CYP7A1 superoxide dismutase. After treatment, abundances of butyric bacteria ( Oscillospira Coprococcus ) feces significantly, concentration also significantly. believe promotes production butyrate intestines, which turn regulates activity synthesis, ultimately treating inflammation lipid accumulation mice. Serum results indicated affected multiple pathways related metabolism These findings suggest shows promise it can significantly improve oxidative stress, reduce liver, decrease accumulation.
