Abstract In this study, the characteristics of emotional responses to color are explored in two empirical studies. particular, relationship between attributes and dimensions—valence, arousal, dominance—is analyzed. To account for cognitive quantity color, 36 stimuli were selected following hue tone categorizations based on CIELAB LCh system. one experiment, colors presented A5‐size glossy paper whereas identical displayed CRT monitors other experiment. both experiments, subjects assessed each stimulus using a Self‐Assessment‐Manikin (SAM), which consists three rows five pictograms illustrating dimensions emotion, respectively. The results provide evidence that patterns affective judgment can be profiled terms emotion (Reliability coefficient, Cronbach's alpha > 0.7). All colors, i.e. hue, Chroma, Lightness, influenced (repeated measurement One‐way ANOVA, P < 0.05), especially, Chroma was always positively correlated with (r 0.60 0.01). In this paper, we present a user study in which have investigated the influence of seven state-of-the-art volumetric illumination models on spatial perception volume rendered images. Within study, compared gradient-based shading with half angle slicing, directional occlusion shading, multidirectional shadow propagation, spherical harmonic lighting as well dynamic ambient occlusion. To evaluate these models, users had to solve three tasks relying correct depth size perception. Our motivation for was find relations between used model, accuracy and elapsed time. an additional task, subjectively judge output tested models.
