Comprehensive Summary We developed a novel Pd‐catalyzed carbonylation of ortho ‐alkenyl iodobenzenes with CO, affording diverse array 3‐arylindenones in good to excellent yields (up 94% yield). This methodology exhibits broad substrate scope and functional group compatibility. The synthetic utility was demonstrated by gram‐scale reaction, product derivatizations, the preparation an intermediate for PPARγ agonist.

We report a Pd-catalyzed cascade twofold Suzuki-type coupling of gem-dibromo olefins and benzene-1,2-bis-boronates to access range unsymmetrical dibenzopentalenes. The methodology provides exclusive dibenzopentalenes without needing superstoichiometric amount substrates. This approach has been extended the synthesis benzopentalenes. photophysical electrochemical characteristics products were studied by using UV–vis spectroscopy cyclic voltammetry experiments, further supported TD-DFT studies.

We report a transition metal-free aryne Alder-ene (AAE) reaction of conformationally locked styrenes like methylene indane (5,6-fusion) and tetralin (6,6-fusion) to provide aryl-decorated indenes dihydronaphthalenes. DFT studies compared the states between 5,6- 6,6-fused systems. The synthetic utility products was demonstrated.
