Fungal keratitis (FK) is a severe ocular condition resulting from corneal infection that prevalent in tropical countries, particularly developing regions of Asia and Africa. Factors like lens misuse, inappropriate steroid use, diagnostic challenges have provoked the epidemic. FK causes significant vision impairment, scarring, deformities. Accurate pathological diagnosis crucial for effective therapeutic intervention. Topical antifungal therapy with surface healing medications proves preventing fungal-borne ulcers. Managing requires comprehensive understanding fungal pathogenesis, guiding formulation strategies preventive measures to curb global blindness. This review provides in-depth insights into FK, covering etiology, epidemiology, interventions, resistance, limitations, prevention, future perspectives on disease management.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive drug delivery systems (DDSs) have garnered significant attention in cancer research because of their potential for precise spatiotemporal release tailored to high ROS levels within tumors. Despite the challenges posed by distribution heterogeneity and endogenous supply constraints, this review highlights strategic alliance ROS-responsive DDSs with photodynamic therapy (PDT), enabling selective leveraging PDT-induced enhanced therapeutic efficacy. This delves into biological importance progression treatment. We elucidate detail operational mechanisms linkers, including thioether, thioketal, selenide, diselencide, telluride aryl boronic acids/esters, as well latest developments nanomedicines that integrate PDT strategies. These insights are intended inspire design innovative nanocarriers PDT.

Nanomedicine is increasingly being utilized in addressing various eye ailments and holds immense potential rectifying ocular diseases; however, the interactions between nanomedicines their route of administration via tear fluid remain poorly understood. When nanoparticles are introduced into fluid, a layer protein corona formed on surface that not only influences properties biological fate but also potentially interferes with function endogenous proteins. To investigate gold nanoaprticles (AuNPs) focusing physicochemical changes particles, to quantitatively qualitatively identify key proteins involved formation, we employed label-free techniques for material biophysical characterizations along proteomic analyses mass spectrometry. The AuNPs remained stable without forming aggregates, showing an ∼31 nm increase hydrodynamic diameter after interacting fluid. Ocular viral infections are a common cause of blindness globally. Many ocular mistakenly identified as bacterial infections. In these situations, treatment is initiated belatedly and fails to address the root infection, which frequently results in serious complications like corneal infiltrates, conjunctival scarring, decreased visual acuity. The efficacy conventional treatments for suffers from poor bioavailability, requires development novel methods drug delivery, accurate diagnosis, efficient choices. As nanotechnology medicine advances at rapid pace, multifunctional nanosystems being prioritized more problems brought on by eyes offering targeted increased bioavailability systemic toxicity.
