Flavonoids and saponins are important bioactive compounds that have attracted wide research interests. This review aims to summarise the state of art pharmacology, toxicology clinical efficacy these compounds.Data were retrieved from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web Science, Proquest, CNKI, Chongqing VIP, Wanfang, NPASS HIT 2.0 databases. Meta-analysis systematic reviews evaluated following PRISMA guideline. Statistical analyses conducted using SPSS23.0.Rising trends on flavonoids observed since 1990s 2000s, respectively. Studies pharmacological targets activities represent an area advances over past decade, resources been documented in open-access specialised databases can be with ease. The rising attributed, at least part, their links some highly investigated fields research, e.g., oxidative stress, inflammation cancer; i.e., 6.88% 3.03% publications stress cited by PubMed 1990 - 2021 involved saponins, respectively, significantly higher than percentage involving alkaloids (1.88%). effects concern chronic venous insufficiency, cervical lesions, diabetes, rhinitis, dermatopathy, prostatitis, menopausal symptoms, angina pectoris, male pattern hair loss, lymphocytic leukaemia, gastrointestinal diseases traumatic cerebral infarction, etc, while those may impact oedema deep vein incompetence, erectile dysfunction, acute injuries systemic lupus erythematosus, etc. volume vitro appears way vivo studies, only 10 meta-analyses (involving 290 interventional observational studies), 36 studies saponins. Data sorely needed pharmacokinetics, pan-assay interferences, purity tested compounds, interactions complex herbal extracts, real anti-oxidative strategies, mid- long-term toxicities. To fill gaps, further investigations warranted. On other hand, drug cause adverse but might also useful for synergism, goals enhancing or detoxifying. Furthermore, between phytochemicals intestinal microbiota worth investigating as field present a promising potential novel development.

The death and disability caused by myocardial infarction is a health problem that needs to be addressed worldwide, poor cardiac repair fibrosis after seriously affect patient recovery. Postmyocardial M2 macrophages of great significance for ventricular remodeling. Quercitrin (Que) common flavonoid in fruits vegetables has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor other effects, but whether it role the treatment unclear. In this study, we constructed mouse model administered Que. We found through ultrasound Que administration improved ejection fraction reduced Staining heart sections detection marker protein levels revealed slowed infarction. Flow cytometry showed proportion was increased expression macrophage markers were Que-treated group. Finally, identified metabolomics reduces glycolysis, increases aerobic phosphorylation, alters arginine metabolic pathways, polarizing toward phenotype. Our research lays foundation future application cardiovascular diseases.

Odontogenic infections can become life-threatening. The aim of the study was to determine effectiveness quercitin and its combination with ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate in complex treatment odontogenic by assessing microbial population infection site. Materials methods cross-sectional included 75 patients. Purulent exudate collected from number colony-forming units counted using standard plate method. Results microbiological examination purulent obtained patients revealed general prevalence Gram-positive cocci. On seventh day treatment, total microorganisms group I, whose a protocol quercitin, significantly decreased compared first same group. results II, which 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine succinate, demonstrate significant decrease bacteria focus on fifth this indicator at beginning study. Conclusions When used as part period reduced 1.4 days. However, combined use against background contributed reduction hospital stay 2

Ampelopsis grossedentata (vine tea) has been used as a detoxifying beverage in China for centuries. To systematically identify its bioactive compounds, the study adopted standards-based ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole/electrostatic field orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap MS) analysis. The analysis was conducted under negative ion model and data were collected using Xcalibur 4.1 software package. Based on comparisons authentic standards, 36 compounds putatively identified by four parameters: retention time, molecular peak, MS/MS profile, characteristic fragments. These include two chromones (noreugenin 3,5,7-trihydroxychromone), 15 flavonoids (S-eriodictyol, S-naringenin, luteolin, ampelopsin, taxifolin, myricetin, quercetin, viscidulin I, kaempferol, myricetin 3-O-galactoside, myricitrin, avicularin, quercitrin, isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucoside, afzelin), phenolic acids (gallic acid, 3,4-dihydroxy-5-methoxybenzoic syringic ellagic acid), five tea polyphenols (epigallocatechin, epigallocatechin gallate, gallocatechin epicatechin catechin gallate), three chalcones (phloridzin, phloretin, naringenin chalcone), one stilbene (polydatin), lipids (myristic acid ethyl stearate), sugar (D-gluconic amino (L-tryptophan), triterpenoid (oleanolic acid) alkaloid (jervine). Notably, jervine identification is first report regarding occurrence of plant. Two may be parent skeleton to biosynthesize flavonoid A. grossedentata.
