Paraquat (PQ) is a noxious herbicide which well known for its adverse effects on vital organs including kidneys. Sudachitin (SCN) plant derived flavone that obtained from Citrus sudachi and demonstrates range of pharmacological potentials. This investigation was executed to assess the protective SCN counteract PQ instigated renal damage in albino rats (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty-four were apportioned 4 different groups i. e., control group, (5 mg/kg) intoxicated mg/kg)+SCN (20 cotreated group only administrated group. Our findings revealed exposure reduced expressions Nrf2 (nuclear factor erythroid 2-related 2) cytoprotective genes while escalating expression keap1. Furthermore, intoxication activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GSR), heme-oxygenase-1 (HO-1) (GSH) contents increasing levels malondialdehyde (MDA) reactive oxygen species (ROS). Moreover, significantly increased neutrophil gelatinous-associated lipocalin (NGAL), urea, kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1) as creatine reducing clearance. Additionally, upregulated inflammatory markers interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis- α (TNF- α), nuclear factor- κB (NF-κB), interleukin 1beta (IL-1β), cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2). administration Bax (Bcl-2-associated X protein) (cysteine-aspartic acid protease) Caspase-3 downregulating (B-cell lymphoma 2 Bcl-2. Besides, prompted various histopathological damages tissues. Nonetheless, substantially restored aforementioned alterations tissues owing anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory anti-apoptotic potential.

Metal phosphides, particularly aluminium phosphide (AlP) and zinc (Zn3P2), are widely used in low- middle-income countries (LMICs) as rodenticides urban domestic environments due to their low cost high toxicity rodent pests. However, they also highly toxic humans with no antidote available have been associated numerous fatal cases of intentional accidental poisoning. This paper reviews alternatives metal use for pest management environments, highlights case studies effective alternative approaches, provides recommendations research policy. review identifies methods managing pests domestic/urban settings that can replace phosphides. These include chemical methods, i.e. rodenticides, non-chemical e.g. rodent-proofing, sanitation trapping. because the majority qualify hazardous pesticides acute human health toxicity, environmental and/or bioaccumulation, simply selecting substitute phosphides likely one set hazards others. Thus, careful risk hazard assessments needed when considering substituting other chemicals. Overall, we need move away from current levels rodenticide reliance towards more integrated ecologically based approaches.

Poisoning caused by pesticides is widely recognized as a major public health problem among smallholder farmers and rural communities, including in the Caribbean. However, lack of quality data impedes understanding hampers development effective strategies for its management. To better understand prevalence unintentional acute pesticide poisoning (UAPP) Trinidad Tobago Jamaica practices involved, we conducted cross-sectional survey 197 330 vegetable Jamaica, respectively. The findings from this study revealed high incidence self-reported effects occupational exposure, with 48 16% respondents, respectively, experiencing symptoms UAPP within previous 12 months. Furthermore, substantial proportion incidents were associated few highly hazardous (HHPs), particularly lambda-cyhalothrin, acetamiprid, profenofos alpha-cypermethrin, paraquat lambda-cyhalothrin Trinidad. Given well-documented adverse these chemicals on human health, results should be significant concern to authorities This clearly indicates an urgent need improved regulation safer alternatives use HHPs, well promotion alternatives. We provide policy recommendations identify HHPs tropical production.

Amid escalating concerns about pesticide residues in agricultural product, this study conducts a meticulous comparative analysis of residue profiles locally grown rice, aiming to contribute essential insights for informed decision-making agriculture. The overarching problem addressed involves identifying pesticides rice from conventional and sustainable farming understanding their potential environmental health implications on food safety. Utilizing HPLC/MS-MS, the research discerns notable absence over 500 types cultivated according good practices (GAP). Conversely, fields deviating GAP guidelines reveals presence 7 active ingredients, with 2 exceeding globally established limits by twice recommended amount. Notably, bifenthrin tebuconazole, uncommonly used last one years, are identified. This underscores urgency adhering safety quality offering critical future research. It not only contributes current knowledge but also emphasizes global necessity safe safeguard our supply.

Paraquat (PQ) is an environmental poison that causes clinical symptoms similar to those of Parkinson's disease (PD) in vitro and rodents. It can lead the activation microglia apoptosis dopaminergic neurons. However, exact role mechanism microglial PQ-induced neuronal degeneration remain unknown. Here, we isolated microglia-derived exosomes exposed with 0 40 μM PQ, which were subsequently co-incubated PQ-exposed cells simulate intercellular communication. First, found released from caused a change cell vitality reversed apoptosis. RNA sequencing data showed these activated carried large amounts circZNRF1. Moreover, bioinformatics method was used study underlying circZNRF1 regulating PD, miR-17-5p predicted be its target. Second, increased Bcl2/Bax ratio could play anti-apoptotic role. Bcl2 downstream target miR-17-5p. Our results plays by absorbing binding after are internalized In conclusion, demonstrated new communication between neurons, key protecting against through regulate biological process PD. These findings may offer novel approach preventing treating

In this study, we aim investigate the impacts of PQ during early developmental stages and adult re-challenge in aged mice non-motor neurobehavior. Two mouse models, which were exposed once life stage re-exposure at adulthood, created explore long-term As results showed, early-life caused impairment working memory cognitive ability male mice, but not female exhibiting a sex-specific impairment. Moreover, that re-challenged with adulthood following also exhibited neurobehavioral disorders. Notably, exacerbated disorders anxiety levels compared single different stages. Collectively, can result irreversible impairments neurobehavior increase susceptibility subsequent insults suggesting greater sensitivity rodents PQ-induced deficits.
