Abstract In this study, three functionalities of superhydrophobicity, antibacterial activity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding cotton fabrics coated with Ag/PDMS were studied, the role coating composition was discussed. Special attention paid to understanding relationships between surface roughness fibres developed superhydrophobicity activity. The analysed based on water contact angle (WCA) hysteresis (CAH) values while tested against Escherichia coli ( E. ) Staphylococcus aureus S. bacteria. It found that fibres, which changed by altering concentrations Ag NPs (0.2–4 g/L) PDMS (20 40 g/L), affected obtained superhydrophobicity. most superhydrophobic fabric (WCA 171°) a formulation containing (2 had highest roughness. Increasing ingredients’ concentrations, however, deteriorated optimum as measured using 3D Surface Laser Scanning Microscopy method. showed efficacy both types bacteria, it confirmed content key factor in determining performance. Moreover, testing EMI performance demonstrated increasing enhanced reflection coefficient (R) incident X-band (EM) wave around >500%, due deposition higher amount fabrics. durable after 1000 abrasion cycles, retained their even numerous washings. In this paper, a self-healing superhydrophobic smart two-layer coating, ZOA/SMP-S, was developed. ZIF-8 surface hydrophobically modified by octadecylphosphoric acid (OPA) to obtain Z-OPA and then encapsulated with corrosion inhibitor, AMT ( 2-Amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole), the nanocontainers, ZOA. ZOA embedded into SMP (shape memory coating) sprayed second coating. SEM showed that scratch coatings were rapidly reduced scratches after simple heat treatment. The prepared composite excellent performance in inhibitor release, immersion, superhydrophobicity, experiments. contact angle of coating reached 158.2°, sliding 2.8°. low-frequency impedance value |Z|f=0.01 Hz ZOA/SMP-S is as high 1.58 × 1010 Ω·cm2 40 days immersion test, which indicates triple protection greatly enhances resistance
