The Latvian local goat (LVK) breed represents the only native domestic in Latvia, but its limited population places it within endangered category. However, LVK has not yet undergone a comprehensive genetic characterization. Therefore, we completed whole genome sequencing to reveal foundation of while identifying traits linked somatic cell count (SCC) levels. study included 40 genomes goats sequenced acquire at least 35x or 10x coverage. A PCA, distance tree, and an admixture analysis showed LVK's similarity some European breeds, such as Finnish Landrace, Alpine, Saanen, which aligns with breed's history. An genome-wide heterozygosity, nucleotide diversity, LD indicated that exhibits substantial levels diversity. was dominated by short runs homozygosity (ROHs, ≤ 500 kb) median length 25 kb. With FROH 2.49%, average inbreeding were low; however, ranged broadly from 0.13% 12.2%. exception one pure-blood breeding buck exhibiting 9.3% FSNP 8.5%, animals 66% ancestry moderate no inbreeding. Overall, this demonstrated can be differentiated imported although complex structure. We able identify potential associated SCC levels, kinship heterogenic substructure might have largely influenced association analysis. identified 26 variants potentially relevant SNP rs662053371 OSBPL8 gene, indicating signal lipid metabolism goats. To conclude, these findings present valuable insight into structure for conservation resources.

Herbivorous livestock, such as cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and donkeys, play a crucial role in agricultural production possess remarkable resilience to extreme environmental conditions, driven by complex genetic mechanisms. Recent advancements high-throughput sequencing, genome assembly, data integration have enabled deeper understanding of the basis their adaptation. This review identifies key genes associated with high-altitude, heat, cold, drought adaptation, providing insights into molecular mechanisms underlying these traits. By elucidating adaptations, our study aims support conservation efforts, inform selective breeding programs, enhance productivity, ultimately contributing sustainable livestock farming economic benefits for farmers.

Maintaining genetic diversity and variation in livestock populations is critical for natural artificial selection promoting improvement while avoiding problems due to inbreeding. In Laos, there are concerns that has been a decline rise inbreeding among native goats their village-based smallholder system. this study, we investigated the of Lao Phin, Songkhone Sepon districts Central Laos first time using Illumina's Goat SNP50 BeadChip. We also explored relationships between with 163 global goat from 36 countries. Our results revealled close relationship Chinese, Mongolian Pakistani goats, sharing ancestries Guangfen, Jining Grey Luoping Yellow breeds (China) Teddi (Pakistan). The observed (Ho) expected (He) heterozygosity were 0.292 0.303 (Laos), 0.288 (Sepon), 0.299 0.308 (Phin) 0.289 0.305 (Songkhone), respectively. There was low moderate differentiation (F

This research is designed to examine the genetic diversity and kinship among Hu sheep, as well discover genes associated with crucial economic traits. A selection of 50 unrelated adult male sheep underwent genotyping SNP50K BeadChip. Seven indicators were assessed based on high-quality SNP data: effective population size (Ne), polymorphic information content (PIC), marker ratio (PN), expected heterozygosity (He), observed (Ho), number alleles, minor allele frequency (MAF). Plink software was employed compute IBS distance matrix detect runs homozygosity (ROHs), while G principal component analysis performed using GCTA software. Selective sweep carried out ROH, Pi, Tajima’s D methodologies. study identified a total 64,734 SNPs, which 56,522 SNPs remained for downstream after quality control. The displayed relatively high diversity. ultimately grouped into 12 distinct families, families 6, 8, 10 having highest numbers individuals, each consisting 6 sheep. Furthermore, 294 ROHs detected, majority lengths between 1 5 Mb, inbreeding coefficient FROH 0.01. In addition, 41, 440, 994 candidate by methods, respectively, 3 overlapping (BMPR1B, KCNIP4, FAM13A). These results offer valuable insights future breeding, assessment, management.

Lamb meat is highly valued across various cultures and regions due to its unique flavor nutritional benefits. As the primary component of edible meat, skeletal muscle holds significant economic value research importance. However, previous studies have largely focused on a limited array groups, overlooking differences between types. Therefore, comprehensive transcriptomic quality analysis muscles sheep goats essential improve production traits. In this study, we performed RNA sequencing assessed in 10 different from 2-year-old Liangshan Black Meigu goats. We generated 803.16 Gb high-quality bulk data with six biological replicates for each muscle. This dataset provides deeper understanding gene expression profiles characteristics tissues goats, laying foundation broader comparative research.
