Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory bowel marked by relapsing, transmural intestinal inflammation driven innate and adaptive immune responses. Autophagy multi-step process that plays critical role in maintaining cellular homeostasis degrading intracellular components, such as damaged organelles invading bacteria. Dysregulation of autophagy CD revealed the identification several susceptibility genes, including ATG16L1, IRGM, NOD2, LRRK2, ULK1, ATG4, TCF4, are involved autophagy. In this review, altered mucosal response context discussed, with specific focus on dendritic cells, macrophages, Paneth goblet cells.
