Utilizing lignocellulosic biomass wastes to produce bioproducts is essential address the reliance on depleting fossil fuels. However, lignin often treated as a low-value-added component in wastes. Valorization of into value-added products crucial improve economic competitiveness biorefinery. Monomers obtained from depolymerization could be upgraded fuel-related products. lignins conventional methods are low β-O-4 content and, therefore, unsuitable for monomer production. Recent literature has demonstrated that extracted with alcohol-based solvents exhibit preserved structures high content. This review discusses recent advances utilizing alcohols extract β-O-4-rich lignin, where discussion based different alcohol groups considered.
