Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a caused by the infectious agent of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Fluorescent immunochromatographic test strips are critical for highly sensitive, rapid detection. However, their sensitivity detecting trace biomarkers is often affected by autofluorescence and photon absorption of the samples (nitrocellulose membrane substrates blood chromophores). Here, we report first time an strip based on near-infrared (NIR) persistent luminescence nanoparticles (PLNPs) sensitive detection biomarker N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). NIR PLNPs exhibit long (PersL) properties after excitation, allowing separation excitation detection, thereby eliminating sample interference. In addition, PersL in region greatly reduces photons sample, further improving sensitivity. After optimization, can detect NT-proBNP at levels as low 15.28 pg/mL, which covers required clinical range. The assay demonstrated a recovery rate 94–101% human serum samples, inter intrabatch coefficients variation were less than 15%. concentrations measured correlated well with those Roche electrochemiluminescence immunoassay, widely used practice.
