Phosphorus (P) is a crucial factor influencing both plant growth and the enrichment of aquatic environment. Agriculture primary sector economy where demand for phosphorus highest. Due to depletion P, more attention being paid possibility recovering reusing P through idea circular (CE). The main objective this study was compare raw eggshells (R-ESs) calcined (C-ESs) removal from wastewater assess possible use agro-waste materials according CE requirements in non-flow conditions. A synthetic indicator, zeroed unitarization method, calculated evaluate critical aspects CE. sorption R-ESs C-ESs equaled 0.90 1.66 mgP-PO4/g an initial concentration 17.3 mgP-PO4/L. were characterized by almost two times higher reduction rate than R-ESs. indicator 0.89 0.72 C-ESs, respectively. This means that are sustainable C-ESs. Although potentially have significant environmental impact, it worth considering method elimination beneficial ecological perspective.

Abstract Phosphorus is essential for all living organisms and limits aquatic plant growth. Pulp mill effluents, particularly from Eucalyptus bleached kraft pulp mills, contain phosphorus concentrations that vary with operational conditions. This variability poses challenges effective treatment removal. However, uncontrolled release of phosphorus-rich wastewaters causes eutrophication. study focuses on optimizing removal such effluents using cobalt ferrite nanoparticles, an emphasis process optimization to address this variability. Minimizing crucial in wastewater engineering surface water management. By employing design experiments response methodology, we aim fine-tune the phosphorous pinpoint key factors most significant impact. Optimal conditions achieving over 90% effluent 5 mg P/L were identified as a sorbent dose greater than 1.3 g/L pH range between 7, within contact time only 15 min. For 1 24 h, adjust 0.97 0.83 g/L, respectively, remaining same. Our results highlight effectiveness nanoparticles sorbents purposes. approach presents sustainable proficient strategy recovery thereby lessening environmental repercussions offering valuable resource future use. contributes maintenance quality ecosystem preservation.

Contamination of water with metallic ions and dyes leads to several impacts on the environment human health. The adsorption comes as an economic simple process remove these pollutants from water. use residues adsorbents can make even more sustainable cheaper. This work proposes a solid residue (eggshells) adsorbent - Reactive Blue 198 (RB) Direct Black 22 (DB) (Cd2+ Cr3+). was characterized by SEM, EDS, FTIR, BET pH-PZC; investigated for dosage, kinetic isotherm analysis. quantifications were determined UV-VIS spectroscopy atomic absorption spectroscopy, respectively. eggshells presented porous structure, surface area 435 cm2.g−1, composed mainly CaCO3 neutral charge at pH 7. It verified that phenomenon occurs chemical interactions between adsorbates, having external transport limit step. Regarding models, fit Langmuir model Dubinin-Radushkevich model. 1.0 g sufficient adsorb 96 % RB; 97 BD; 99 Cd2+; 95 Cr3+. Thus, analyzed in this research shows be promising alternative removing while giving residue.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate phosphorus removal in fixed-bed columns using Lithothamnium calcareum, a calcareous algae widely used the agricultural sector, exploring its potential as sorbent medium wastewater treatment. Theoretical Framework: The research was based on established kinetic and equilibrium models for describing pollutant removal. pseudo-second-order model employed kinetics, while Temkin describe equilibrium, providing consistent theoretical support data analysis. Methodology: Initially, parameters were determined from synthetic solutions. Subsequently, continuous tests conducted effluents treatment plant located Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Operational parameters, such flow rate, bed height, initial concentration, adjusted process efficiency. Yoon-Nelson applied operational behavior. Results Discussion: Phosphorus highly efficient, with rates ranging 84% 98%. kinetics followed model, aligned model. demonstrated good compatibility under varied experimental conditions. Research Implications: application of calcareum represents sustainable effective alternative removal, particularly plants, promoting greater environmental sustainability. Originality/Value: highlights innovation systems, reinforcing feasibility practical solution
