Abstract Deep eutectic solvent (DES) is used as both photocatalyst and for photoinduced reversible complexation‐mediated polymerization (photo‐RCMP), which enables a rapid to produce polymers with predictable molar mass low dispersity ( Đ ). This work illustrates comprehensive understanding of DES‐accelerated RCMP's mechanism kinetic features through quantum chemical calculations modeling. According the results, electrons transferring from hydrogen bond in DES iodine atom alkyl iodide (RI) initiator under light irradiation lowers decomposition free energy complex RI‐DES. procedure facilitates generation primary radicals, thus contributing phenomenon. In meantime, reaction paths are identified by computation (i) RI‐DES generates active radicals · I‐DES (ii) combination two releases (I 2 ) regenerates DES. addition, modeling based on method moments successfully identifies presence absence DES, respectively. Kinetic shows fast increase concentration build‐up photo‐RCMP activation‐deactivation equilibrium, demonstrating that beneficial enable accelerate completion catalytic cycle. research provides an in‐depth DES‐involved lays theoretical foundation expanding application other systems.

Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs) are a novel class of organic liquids that becoming increasingly important in the literature for their green and catalytic properties peculiar structural features. Because these, they finding fruitful applications many different topics. One most explored one is use as effective extracting agents from food matrices waste valuable bioactive compounds, thanks to affinity with aromatic phenolic compounds. In this work, mixture glycerol/water at 1/2.55 molar ratio demonstrated be DES comparison experimental melting points theoretical curves. This approach used both liquid starting components first time our knowledge. was then tested agent on matrixes: onion, tomato apple peels; spent coffee grounds grape pomace. The results were compared those obtained water glycerol only components, showing superior capability extractions, well antioxidant extracts. promotes eutectic point opens which extract could directly without further purification procedures considering grade components.
