Measurements of stratification and dissolved oxygen (DO) illustrate a hypersaline gravity current with salt loads similar to desalination plant brine discharge. Over 48-h sampling period in August 2005, alternating cycles high- low-temperature water were observed along the bottom Corpus Christi Bay Texas, coincident low benthic DO tidal flushing from an adjacent smaller bay. The underflow was typically less than 10% overall depth. Strong salinity gradients prevented wind-mixing entire column. Hypoxic near-hypoxic conditions associated limited replenishment ambient water. High levels source did not deter development offshore hypoxia. A quasi-Lagrangian analysis is used evaluate relationship between mixing lateral within underflow. further applied estimating demand rates plume. Mixing predominately occurs over sloping bay boundary. The potential ecological impacts of aerobic biodegradation vegetable oils on contaminated water columns was investigated in the laboratory at different oil loadings (100, 333, and 1,000 gal acre–1) mixing regimes (fully, moderately, nonmixed microcosms). were estimated by use Microtox assay dissolved oxygen concentration measurements. results showed no major toxicity 100 acre–1 loading. Furthermore, not completely depleted from column this coverage. At higher loadings, fully mixed columns. Abstract Dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration is an essential indicator for assessment of estuary ecosystems. According to our knowledge, there no research on the depth profiles DO and associated water quality variables entire Bouregreg (Morocco). Water samples were collected from three stations at 0.5-m intervals during high low tides (10/11/2021, 20/03/2022, 02/07/2022). Our study shows that concentrations ranged between 5.5 11.8 mg/L demonstrated inconsistent stratification pattern. When tide was in most area, bottom layer had a higher than surface layer. There relatively due rate freshwater flow (the release Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah dam existence estuarine gravitational circulation). Salinity, pH, temperature, transparency 19.4 35.8 ppt, 7.0 8.7, 17 23 °C, 16 21 cm, respectively, considering area. The provides scientific support ecology operation considerable advances understanding ecosystem dynamics estuary.
