Reducing pesticide use is of great significance for ensuring the quality and safety agricultural products, as well alleviating non-point source pollution. Exploring mechanisms by which environmental regulation drives reduction under different scenarios can help improve policy effectiveness promote sustainable development agriculture. Utilizing panel data from 30 Chinese provinces spanning period 2010 to 2023, this study empirically analyzed impact on through a fixed-effect model further explored moderating role economic scale in process. The findings reveal that, overall, there exists an inverted U-shaped relationship between use, where it initially increases then decreases. Rural revitalization (R), new-type urbanization (U) and the ecological environment (E) are a unity of complementary advantages mutual promotion coexistence, coupling coordination three is key to realizing Chinese modernization harmonious coexistence human beings nature.
