Micro/nanoplastics (MNPs), as emerging pollutants, have been detected in both the maternal and fetal sides of placenta pregnant women, their reproductive toxicity has demonstrated vivo vitro experimental models. The Targeted Risk Assessment Environmental Chemicals (TRAEC) strategy innovatively devised to facilitate valid risk assessment, encompassing a comprehensive evaluation reliability, correlation, outcome fitness, integrity across four dimensions based on included published evidence our own findings. This study serves an application case TRAEC, with 40 items research MNPs placenta, which were rigorously screened incorporated into final scoring system. score for this TRAEC is 5.63, suggesting moderate-to-low associated may potentially increase decreasing particle size. It essential emphasize that findings also report original data from assays indicating exposure high-dose groups (100 μg/mL, 200 μg/mL) 50 nm polystyrene nanoplastics (PS-NPs) induces HTR8/SVneo cell cycle arrest apoptosis, lead by disrupting mitochondrial function. Overall, employed provide insight potential health effects ubiquitous MNPs.

Global environmental contamination by microplastics (MPs) is a growing problem with potential One Health impacts. The presence of MPs in vital organs, such as the heart, particular concern, but knowledge still limited. goal present pilot study was to investigate heart wild specimens three commercial fish species (Merluccius merluccius, Sardina pilchardus, and Trisopterus luscus) from North East Atlantic Ocean. Heart samples 154 were analysed for MP content (one sample per fish). A total 44 recovered species. had varied chemical composition (5 polymers), shapes (4) colours (5). Differences profile among observed (p ≤ 0.05). Thirty (19%) their hearts, mean (±SD) concentration 0.286 ± 0.644 MPs/fish. S. pilchardus highest There no significant > 0.05) differences between M. merluccius T. luscus. These findings different biological ecological traits together literature data suggest that likely disseminated phenomenon. Therefore, further research on cardiovascular system its health effects very much needed.
