The rapid growth of anthropogenic activities in recent decades has resulted the appearance numerous new chemical compounds environment, known as “emerging pollutants” (EPs) or “contaminants emerging concern” (CECs). Although partially not yet regulated monitored, there is growing research interest these EPs among scientific community because their bioaccumulation, persistence, and adverse effects. Among these, endocrine disruptors, pesticides, pharmaceuticals can have harmful impacts on human health ecosystem. Conventional wastewater treatment technologies are effective removing contaminants, allowing them to be released into receiving environment. In order improve understanding pollutants, this review discusses source, occurrence, bisphenol A, atrazine, amoxicillin, paracetamol model molecules environmental an issue that remains underrepresented Morocco. Then, methods for reviewed, including adsorption, advanced oxidation processes, biodegradation, hybrid treatment. It proposed adsorption photocatalysis used simple, effective, environmentally friendly removal. Thus, we summarize some adsorbent photocatalyst materials applied work control pollutants. Towards end paper, development inexpensive locally available (Morocco) remove from considered.

The continuous influx of emerging contaminants (ECs) into water bodies poses a significant threat to human health. Among these contaminants, pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) are particular concern due their potential exert adverse effects even at low concentrations. Therefore, it is imperative explore methods for effective removal or reduction safeguard both health the ecological environment. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have received substantial attention as promising treatment methods. AOPs capable efficiently treating by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) with potent properties, which can effectively eliminate various contaminants. This review delves diverse range available, including ozonation, photocatalytic oxidation, Fenton process, electrochemical sulfate radicals-based advanced (SR-AOPs), more. It also discusses respective limitations future prospects processes, aiming provide insights addressing pressing issue PPCP contamination in bodies.

Emerging pollutants (EPs) encompass natural or synthetic substances found in the environment that pose potential risks, but which have only recently been recognized monitored. EPs consist of various categories, including pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hormones, mycotoxins, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Microplastics resulting from the fragmentation of plastics in electronic waste (e-waste) are an emerging but understudied environmental concern. This systematic review employs a Driver–Pressure–State–Impact–Response (DPSIR) framework to investigate sources, prevalence, and effects e-waste microplastics, identifying knowledge gaps. The available literature on microplastics was retrieved Scopus Web Science (n = 24), trends electrical equipment were European Union databases. growing incorporation electronics into daily life results global annual growth rate 3–4% for e-waste, which only 17.4% is collected recycling. E-waste frequently found soils near disposal or disassembly facilities, potentially leaching hazardous metals (e.g., Pb) organic compounds flame retardants). These contaminate food chain can have adverse soil gut microbiome, organisms, human health, either independently associated with other chemicals. Responses include implementation regulations, improvement management systems, mitigation measures. Despite these concerns, topic remains limited, emphasizing need additional research identification their toxicity.
