Agricultural drainage from catchment greatly impacts water quality in the hilly area due to high nitrogen concentrations central basin of Sichuan Province, China. The original ecological ditches have proven effective removing associated nutrient loads, but their removal efficiency is limited by elevated levels overland flow and subsurface flow. Field experiments were conducted optimize network enhance performance regions. results suggested that ecologically permeable dam exhibited superior total (TN) phosphorus (TP) efficiencies compared single dams, multiple intercept dams. Specifically, single, multiple, TN was 20.2 %, 12.7 2.5 % higher, respectively, while TP 18.2 10.3 3.7 respectively. Hydrocotyle verticillate Iris pseudacorus L. ditch 15.8 2.3 higher than Myriophyllum verticillatum verticillata Thalia dealbata Fraser, Fraser 11.4 3.5 L., soil bed demonstrated efficiencies, with rates 15.2 11.3 pebble mudstone (2.9 3.4 respectively). Therefore, reinforced through a combination fine-textured substrates, native emergent plants large biomass dams agricultural drainage. Following reinforcement evaluation 2020, TN, TP, ammonia (AN) nitrate (NN) strengthened increased 58.1 56.5 56.8 54.2 In this study, scientific foundation for enhancing efficacy mitigating nonpoint source pollution mountainous regions subtropical developing countries established.
