Abstract Background The rate of suicide attempts by patients with bipolar disorder is high. In addition to patient and country specific factors, environmental factors may contribute suicidal behavior. Sunlight has multiple diverse impacts on human physiology Solar insolation defined as the electromagnetic energy from sun striking a surface area earth. We previously found that large change in solar between minimum maximum monthly values was associated an increased risk I disorder. Methods association history again investigated using international database 15% more data sites at locations countries. Results Data were available 5641 living wide range latitudes 41 countries both hemispheres. A disorder, replication our prior analysis. estimated model also state sponsored religion onset country, female gender, alcohol or substance abuse, being part younger birth cohort attempts. Conclusions replicating research. Physicians should be aware daylight ranging physiological psychiatric impacts, changes risk.

ABSTRACT Background Individuals with bipolar disorder have been reported to increased white matter hyperintensities (WMH) in fluid‐attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) magnetic resonance scans. However, it is unknown whether this WMH increase has any impact on connectivity. The present study aimed evaluate the effects of disorder‐related tracts and networks. Methods An expert neuroradiologist blindly assessed type, size, location from 128 FLAIR scans (bipolar disorder: n = 64, age 38 ± 7 years; 53% females; matched healthy controls: 36 10 years, 58% females). Afterward, we conducted an atlas‐based analysis comparing mean percentage parcel damage Human Connectome Project tractography template networks 7‐Network Cortical Parcellation template. Results We did not detect WMH‐related connectivity when correcting for multiple comparisons. at uncorrected level, found a higher disconnection right inferior fronto‐occipital fasciculus middle longitudinal fasciculus. Conclusion This evaluates, first time, brain structural It finds effect two fasciculi, providing hints into one potential origin networks' alterations disorder. only observed these results statistical which they are likely small should be taken caution until replicated.

Abstract Purpose of Review This paper explores Predominant Polarity (PP) in Bipolar Disorder (BD), defined as the predominance either manic or depressive episodes over a patient’s course illness. We examine its clinical relevance, neurobiological foundations, and potential for guiding personalized treatment strategies. The review seeks to determine whether PP is reliable specifier how it can be utilized improve outcomes. Recent Findings has significant impact on prognosis planning BD. Manic are associated with distinct profiles BD, while individuals without clear episode type represent more severe to-treat subgroup patients. development Index (PI) facilitates decisions based PP. Summary offers valuable framework refining BD understanding complexity. Future research should focus definitions, validating markers, integrating these insights into comprehensive models patient
