Food waste and food safety issues caused by spoilage have been brought into focus. The inhibition of bacteria growth is the key to maintaining quality extending shelf life food. Photodynamic inactivation (PDI) an efficient antibacterial strategy which provides a new idea for preservation Nano-titanium dioxide (nano-TiO2) with PDI characteristics has attracted interest many researchers its elevated efficiency, broad-spectrum resistance, low cost, safety, non-toxicity. Nano-TiO2 photodynamic properties studied extensively great application value in field packaging. nano-TiO2 are linked photocatalytic activity influenced factors such as reactive oxygen species production, bacterial types, etc. Polymer-based packaging prepared using various methods applied foods successfully. In this review, latest research on mechanisms discussed, applications also explored comprehensively. Challenges future perspectives nano-TiO2-based proposed. This review aims provide whole comprehensive understanding novel systems based nano-TiO2.
