Two structurally different Cu(II) and Co(II) complexes, [Cu(L)] (1) [Co2(L)2]⋅2CH3OH (2), constructed from a new polyhalogen-substituted unsymmetric salamo-based ligand (H2L, 4-chloro-4′-bromo-6-bromo-6′-tert-butyl-2,2′-[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol) were synthesized by wet-chemical methods. Complexes 1 2 characterized through elemental analyses, IR UV-vis spectroscopies single crystal X-ray crystallography. In addition, the differences of structures, electronic absorption characteristics fluorescence property transitions to complexes studied. The largest difference is that H2L can react with M(OAc)2 (M = Co(II)) give two distinct structures behaviors. There are chemically identical but crystallographically independent structural units (molecules A B) in 1. Moreover, each ion (Cu1 or Cu2) four-coordinate possesses square planar geometry, both ions bridged phenoxide possess five-coordinate trigonal bipyramidal configurations. At same time, Hirshfeld surface analyses showed there short-range interaction features 2, O···H/H···O interactions significantly stronger than those 2.

AbstractA quinoline-containing semi-salamo-type ligand, HL, was synthesized and a dinuclear Ni(II) complex, [Ni2(L)2(NCS)2], produced. The complex experimentally analyzed by elemental analysis, fluorescence, UV–Vis spectroscopy. X-ray single crystal diffraction experiments showed that the is six-coordinate, structurally symmetric, phenoxy-bridged dimer with participation of SCN− in coordination to satisfy charge neutrality. self-assembly forms 2-D supramolecular network structure through hydrogen bonding π⋯π interactions. DFT calculations were performed on analyze its energy gaps, experiment verified TD-DFT calculation. A flexible polydentate Salamo-Salen-Salamo hybrid ligand H4L was designed and synthesized, which has rich pockets (salamo salen pockets) so that it may have fascinating coordination patterns with transition metal(II) ions. Four multinuclear complexes, novel butterfly-shaped homotetranuclear [Ni4(L)(μ1-OAc)2(μ1,3-OAc)2(H2O)0.5(CH3CH2OH)3.5]·4CH3CH2OH (1), helical homotrinuclear [Zn3(L)(μ1-OAc)2]·2CH3CH2OH (2), double-helical [Cu2(H2L)2]·2CH3CN (3), mononuclear [Ni(H2L)]·1.5CH3COCH3 (4), been synthesized characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The effects of different anions [OAc- (O2C5H7)2-] on the complexation behavior ions were studied UV-vis spectrophotometry. fluorescent properties four complexes zebrafish, are expected to be a potential light-emitting material.
