Abstract
Cationic
cetyltrimethylammonium
(CTAB)
is
an
effective
and
common
intercalator
for
interlayered
modification
in
layered
materials,
while
its
biotoxicity
remains
issue.
To
improve
biosafety
biocompatibility
of
the
drug
delivery
system,
nontoxic
chitosan
(CS)
was
introduced
into
CTAB‐modified
kanemite
(Ka‐CTAB).
Accordingly,
obtained
Ka‐CTAB/CS
further
used
as
a
carrier
methotrexate
(MTX).
Various
characterizations
were
employed
to
investigate
system
based
on
Ka‐CTAB/CS.
Results
revealed
that
loading
capacity
MTX
about
13.47%,
exhibited
slow
sustained
release
drugs
either
phosphate
buffer
solution
(pH
=
7.4)
or
HCl
1.35).
The
introduction
CS
not
only
replaced
part
CTAB
composition
but
also
prevented
molecules
falling
off
during
drug‐releasing
process.
