Chitosan is a nontoxic biopolymer with many potential biomedical and material applications due to its biodegradability, biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties. Here, fully atomistic molecular dynamics simulations enhanced sampling methods have been used study the adsorption mechanism of chitosan oligomers on silica surface from an aqueous solution. The free energy was calculated be 0.6 kcal mol–1 per monomer in 0.15 mol L–1 solution, which comparable kBT at room temperature. loading capacity found 0.094 mg m–2, it dominated by charge compensation. Furthermore, hydrogen bonding between analyzed. nitrogen hydroxyl group oxygen atoms were main contributors silica. These findings guide experimental design chitosan-coated nanoparticles for such as drug delivery or additives food packaging.

The scientific interest in the chemical modification of chitosan to increase its solubility and application has led conjugation with Schiff bases, which are interesting scaffolds endowed diverse biological properties. resultant chitosan-based bases (CSBs) widely studied literature due myriad activities exerted, both catalytic biological, including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, especially antimicrobial ones. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one major public health challenges twenty-first century because it represents a threat prevention treatment growing number bacterial, parasitic, viral, fungal infections that no longer treatable available drugs. Thus, this review, we present brief outline CSBs as well their complexes metals, particular focus on recent regarding effect these captivating derivatives.

Oral route of drug administration is typically the initial option for because it both practical and affordable. However, major drawback this includes release at a specified place thus reduces bioavailability. This could be overcome by utilising gastroretentive delivery system (GRRDS). Prolonged stomach retention improves bioavailability increases solubility medicines that are unable to dissolve in high pH environments. Many recent advancements floating, bio adhesive, magnetic, expandable, raft forming ion exchange systems have been made had led towards advanced form delivery. From past few years, floating has most commonly utilised delayed manner. Various polymers manufacturing these systems, including alginates, chitosan, pectin, carrageenan's, xanthan gum, hydroxypropyl cellulose, carbomer, polyethylene oxide sodium carboxy methyl cellulose. Chitosan, pectin gum found used inclusion complex study aimed define various types as well also highlights advances future perspectives system.
