Despite its well-known fragrance in cosmetics and medicine, a complete understanding of the phytochemical properties within by-products generated during commercial extraction Damask rose remains elusive. Cultivated Thailand for their essential oil, varieties, including Mon Dang Prasert, Klai Kangwon, Bishop’s Castle, share phenylethyl alcohol (57.62–61.11%) as dominant component, which is responsible characteristic floral, sweet, rosy, bready aroma. Through circular hydro-distillation process, three different by-product fractions, distilled water (D), hydrosol (H), dreg (R), were recovered. Subsequently, we assessed pharmaceutical potential, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-melanogenesis these residual substances. The H fraction displayed highest total phenolics (10.56 mgGAE/g) flavonoids (6.93 mgCE/g) significant antioxidant activity (IC50, 0.67–0.97 µg/mL). While inhibited melanin formation at 50 μg/mL, R MK (100 μg/mL) surprisingly promoted production B16-F10 cells. Nevertheless, antimicrobial assay against Staphylococcus aureus, Cutibacterium acnes, epidermidis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans revealed no any fraction. Murine macrophage stimulation (J774A.1) with lipopolysaccharide anti-inflammatory effects from by-products, measured by IL-1β production. In summary, exhibited level phenolic flavonoid contents, well activities. Therefore, this desirable choice development value-added products such functional food, cosmetics, products.

Abstract Damask rose ( Rosa damascena Mill.) is a high-value aromatic plant species belonging to the family Rosaceae. It being cultivated throughout world for essential oil production. Besides its higher demand in and cosmetic industry, obtained has many pharmacological cytotoxic activities. The primary concern of growers with available varieties damask short flowering duration, low content unstable yield. Thus, there requirement developing new stable flower yield content. present study evaluated variations parameters, content, compounds different clonal selections rose. These have been developed through half-sib progeny approach from commercially 'Jwala' 'Himroz.' fresh varied 629.57 965.7 g per plant, while ranged 0.030–0.045% among selections. profiling via gas chromatography–mass spectrometry revealed significant compounds. Acyclic monoterpene alcohols citronellol (20.35–44.75%) geraniol (15.63–27.76%) were highest, followed by long-chain hydrocarbons, i.e., nonadecane (13.02–28.78%). selection CSIR-IHBT-RD-04 was unique terms highest (44.75%) citronellol/geraniol (C/G) ratio 1.93%. This potential use as parental line future genetic improvement programs achieve better quality oil.

Damask rose is an important essential oil crop. In the present study, plants were subjected to three different water deficit levels (70, 40, and 10% available content) for two periods (June–October). Plant phenology, growth, yield, gas exchange features, membrane stability major antioxidant defense elements monitored across years. Soil was related quicker completion of growth cycle (up 7.4 d), smaller 49.7%). Under these conditions, biomass accumulation jointly constrained by decreased leaf area, chlorophyll content, CO2 intake, photosynthetic efficiency 82.8, 56.9, 27.3 68.2%, respectively). The decrease in intake driven a reduction stomatal conductance 41.2%), while area mediated reductions both number leaves, individual 54.3, 64.0%, Although reactive oxygen species scavenging system activated (i.e., proline accumulation, enhanced activity enzymes) deficit, oxidative stress symptoms still apparent. These effects amplified, as soil became more intense. Notably, adverse generally less pronounced when had been exposed severity during preceding year. Therefore, exposure elicited plant tolerance future exposure. This phenotypic response further dependent on level. At intense year, vulnerable subsequent one. our results reveal direct link between challenges, providing first time evidence memory damask rose.

Rose (Rosa sp.) is a widely used raw material for essential oil extraction and fragrance production. The carotenoid cleavage dioxygenases pathway one of the main metabolic pathways degradation carotenoids, which located downstream terpenoids biosynthesis closely related to volatile compounds. We performed comprehensive genome-wide analysis rose CCD family genes (RcCCDs) in terms phylogeny, sequence characterization, gene structure, duplication events, transcriptome. Finally, 15 members were identified from genome, they classified into three clades: nine clade, four NCED two CCD-LIKE clade. RcCCDs distributed on chromosomes 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, concentrated both ends chromosomes. did not have paralogous or whole genome events (WGD), eleven them single-copy genes, their repetitive sequences mainly dispersed tandem. The damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill.) is an ornamental–medicinal plant from the Rosaceae family, and its aromatic compounds essential oils are applied globally in food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical industries. Due to economic value, this research aimed establish a protocol for efficient, rapid, cost-effective method vitro shoot multiplication rooting of R. ‘Kashan’ ‘Hervy Azerbaijan’ genotypes. Nodal segments (as primary explants) were cultured on Murashige Skoog (MS) medium with combinations various growth regulators (PGRs) such as gibberellic acid (GA3), 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), indole-3-butyric (IBA), well PGR-like substance, phloroglucinol (PG), vitamins ascorbic (AA), activated carbon form active charcoal (AC). For establishment stage, 0.1 mg·L−1 PG, 0.2 GA3, 1 BAP added media. Secondary explants (nodal containing axillary buds produced obtained after 30 days culture transferred proliferation media supplemented different concentrations (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 mg·L−1) GA3 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, together PG 20 AA. augmented IBA, AA AC. results showed that highest regeneration coefficient (4.29 4.28) largest number leaves (23.33–24.33) grown 2 0.4 genotypes, respectively. Likewise, PGR combination provided shortest time until bud break (approximately 6.5 days) root emergence 10 both shoots (4.78 per explant) roots (3.96) was achieved rose. Stem lengths, stem fresh dry weights, also analyzed. In most measured traits, lowest values found PGRs-free control medium. Rooted plantlets pots filled perlite peat moss 2:1 proportion acclimatized ambient greenhouse conditions mean 90.12% survival rate. This contributes significantly our understanding Damask propagation has practical implications cosmetic ornamental By offering insights into manipulation processes, study opens up new possibilities effective production high-quality material.
