This paper presents a hybrid metaheuristic method for optimal tuning of four different types proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system. The is based on the manta ray foraging optimization algorithm which merged with simulated annealing algorithm. Additionally, novel objective functions controller's parameters are proposed. performance obtained ideal PID, real fractional-order and PID second-order derivative controllers verified by carrying out comparison tuned algorithms presented in literature. Results simulations validate that each type proposed SA–MRFO outperforms other algorithms. Further, comparative analysis carried to determine most suitable application AVR systems. main advantage significant increase convergence speed.

In this paper, a Fuzzy proportional–integral–derivative (Fuzzy PID) controller design is presented to improve the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) transient characteristics and increase robustness of AVR. PID parameters are determined by genetic algorithm (GA)-based optimization method using novel multi-objective function. The function, which important for tuning parameters, obtains optimal solution Integrated Time multiplied Absolute Error (ITAE) criterion peak value output response. proposed tested on two AVR models with different compared studies in literature. It observed that improves response properties also robust parameter changes.
