This paper reports the synthesis of a novel quaternary surfactant containing hydroxyethyl group (PFPE-C) and surface properties its aqueous solution (investigated by comparisons with two structurally similar chemicals, dodecyl-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride (DHDAC) PFPE-A). The minimum tension (γCMC) critical micelle concentration (CMC) PFPE-C were 17.35 mN/m 0.024 mmol/L, respectively. study confirms that surfactants groups efficiently reduce solutions, fluorocarbon exhibit better activity than ordinary hydrocarbon structures. micellization, aggregation, air-water interfacial adsorption, wettability solutions have been systematically investigated. Highly concentrated good on PTFE paraffin films. Moreover, aggregates in clearly seen as vesicles Cryo-TEM micrographs. Primary biodegradation results indicate 19% PFPC-C can be degraded within one week.

Surfactants are extensively utilized in food, pharmaceutical, and industrial fields owing to their distinct interfacial properties. Nonetheless, defects of poor biocompatibility biodegradability impose a significant burden on the natural environment human health. Herein, we design cinnamic acid-functionalized chitosan (CC) as biobased surfactant by substituting certain hydrophilic amino groups molecular chains with hydrophobic benzene rings acid. CC, exhibiting surface contact angle close 90°, demonstrates exceptional emulsification capabilities. Molecular simulations suggest that there is substantial interaction energy between CC water, oil, molecules. can be self-assembled into gel network or stably distributed at oil–water interface based polar water oil. Leveraging these characteristics, employed preparation high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs), cell scaffolds adjustable pore sizes, aerogels for separation dye adsorption. Notably, HIPEs loaded curcumin quercetin exhibit robust stability gastric juice, intestinal targeted release, noncytotoxicity, resistance bacterial mold growth even after 90 days. This work provides some references development new surfactants.

Liquid-repellent fabrics have attracted significant attention due to their resistance hazardous chemicals, reduced maintenance cost, and preservation of the fabric's natural form. Traditionally, Poly-Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) been widely used in these applications intrinsic low surface energy, which renders them omniphobic (oil water-repellent) properties. However, health hazard issues, there is a growing movement phase out PFAS use consumer industrial products. Recent studies showed that attaching low-surface tension flexible brushes substrate results formation liquid-like slippery surfaces, impart repellency various liquids. In this study, two different types PFAS-free coatings were investigated: long alkyl chain silanes, linear polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Silanes with carbon lengths PDMS molecular weights applied cotton fabric. PDMS-treated fabric Mw=3600 g/mole (F-3600) treated n-dodecyl triethoxy silane (F-C12) superhydrophobic properties water contact angle>150° oil castor angle> 80°. Both F-C12 F-3600 samples alcohol up grade 5. The characterized using FTIR-ATR, surfaces observed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). liquid was evaluated angle measurements as per ASTM D5946 tested AATCC TM193. toxicity mechanical also assessed. tear strength lower than those plain (421 gf vs. 569 551 for samples). Eventually, Linear received moderate score (4.5) compared silanes high (>6) C8-PFAS (>8).
