Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs), emerging as pervasive environmental pollutants, present multifaceted threats to diverse ecosystems. This review critically examines the ability of MNPs traverse biological barriers in fish, leading their accumulation gonadal tissues subsequent reproductive toxicity. A focal concern is potential transgenerational harm, where offspring not directly exposed exhibit toxic effects. Characterized by extensive specific surface areas marked hydrophobicity, readily adsorb concentrate other contaminants, potentially intensifying comprehensive analysis aims provide profound insights into repercussions on fish health progeny, highlighting intricate interplay between pollutants. We delve mechanisms MNPs-induced toxicity, including histopathologic alterations, oxidative stress, disruptions hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. The also underscores urgency for future research explore size-specific dynamics long-term implications chronic exposure. Understanding these aspects crucial assessing ecological risks posed formulating strategies safeguard aquatic life.

Chemically, microplastics (MPs) are synthetic materials composed of plastic monomers and additives vary in size from 0.1 to 5000 μm. Due their chemical stability the widespread use plastics for various purposes, MP contamination environment has increased dramatically, leading daily consumer products as well. Although previous studies have reported environmental impacts MPs, only a few highlighted occurrence MPs food possible effects on human health. Recent investigations identified particles drinking water other beverages, seafood, plant products, salt, sugar, honey, raising an alarm over safety quality these items. Ingestion, inhalation, dermal contact such goods common routes through which may enter body can several deleterious health including oxidative stress, inflammation, immunotoxicity, risk neoplasia, cellular metabolism impairment, neurotoxicity, gut microbiome dysbiosis, disruption reproductive system among others. A collective approach employing source control, recycling, biodegradable plastics, strengthening legislation, bioremediation could be promising sustainable solution control pollution. The key challenge appears standarize detection methods along with reducing well environment. Therefore, this review focuses current analysis, potential impacts, strategies mitigate It also adds novel findings, knowledge gaps, recommendations that guide future research field.

Microplastics, as an emerging environmental pollutant, have received widespread attention for their potential impact on ecosystems and human health. Microplastics are defined plastic particles less than 5 millimeters in diameter can be categorized primary secondary microplastics. Primary microplastics usually originate directly from industrial production, while formed by the degradation of larger items. capable triggering cytotoxicity chronic inflammation, may promote cancer through mechanisms such pro-inflammatory responses, oxidative stress endocrine disruption. In addition, improved bring new perspectives to therapy, studies drug carriers underway, showing high targeting bioavailability. Although current suggest association between certain cancers (e.g., lung, liver, breast cancers), long-term effects specific still need studied. This review aimed at exploring carcinogenicity promising applications therapy provides important directions future research emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration address this global health challenge.
