Microplastics have been reported in sediments, surface water, and aquatic organisms, including seafood, thus transferred to food chains. This paper summarizes the emerging concern of microplastic pollution highlights mitigation policies action plans Sundarban Delta regions Bay Bengal. is largest mangrove forest with vibrant rich biodiversity, facing severe threats because human activities climate change. Anthropogenic plastic litter has found Bengal also Sundarban, which can cause substantial forests. More than 56 tons wastes were immediately after cyclone 'Amphan' 2020 due unregulated relief packaged materials using plastics. Interestingly, microplastics ultimately transported from various rivers waved off mangrove. It observed that 4 million tonnes discharged annually India Bangladesh Trophic transfer their bioaccumulation result significant ecological damage delta. Although governments taking different policy measures for protecting areas, more interventions are required tackle contaminants like microplastics. Other issues may arise huge load microplastics, such as degradation natural resources, unsustainable livelihoods, poverty. In this regard, joint initiatives both countries consider risk assessments, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development.

The presence of microplastics in aquatic environments has raised concerns about their abundance and potential hazards to organisms. This review provides insight into the problem that may be alarm for freshwater fish. Plastic pollution is not confined marine ecosystems; also comprises plastic bits, as most fragments enter oceans via rivers. Microplastics (MPs) can consumed by fish accumulated due size poor biodegradability. Furthermore, it food chain cause health problems. Evidence MPs s ingestion been reported >150 species from both systems. However, microplastic quantification toxicity ecosystems have underestimated, ignored, much compared ecosystem. abundance, influence, biota are less than ecosystems. interaction with fish, well risk human consumption, remains a mystery. Nevertheless, our knowledge impacts on still very limited. study detailed status will add understanding ecotoxicology give subsequent research directions.

Globally, microplastics (MPs) contamination in aquatic organisms is emerging as an alarming phenomenon. In the present study, we investigated MPs three commercially important fishes (Bombay duck Harpadon nehereus, ribbon fish Trichiurus lepturus and hairfin anchovy Setipinna phasa) fresh dried conditions collected from two sites (Chattogram Kuakata) of Bay Bengal. It was evident that T. ingested highest amount through gills (6.41 mps/g) Chattogram followed by gastrointestinal tract, GIT (6.20 muscle (1.20 Kuakata. Among fishes, H. nehereus Kuakata accumulated (0.21 mps/g), while S. phasa contained least (0.06 mps/g). Microplastic pollution is becoming an increasingly severe environmental problem. As compared to the marine ecosystem, freshwater ecosystems at high-altitude, remote regions are less studied and lag far behind. Thus, present study aims highlight this issue fill gap in regard. The presence of microplastics (MPs) surface water gastrointestinal tracts (GITs) brown trout (Salmo trutta) from Lake Mahodand, Kalam Swat, Pakistan, a high altitude 2865 m above sea level was investigated. For microplastic extraction, samples were digested with H2O2, NaCl solution added for density separation, then filtered cellulose nitrate filter (pore size 0.45 µ). After this, visual observation polymer detection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, characterized by their shapes, sizes, colors, types. In sample, MP particles found range 0−5 MPs/L, where mean concentration MPs 2.3 ± 1.52 MPs/L 1.7 1.05 MPs/gastrointestinal tract (GIT) isolated GIT trout. Particles relatively larger (500−300 µm) more abundant than other ranges (300−150 150−50 fish samples. fiber most shape particles, followed sheets fragments (fibers > fragments). Four types viz. low-density polyethylene (LDPE) (44.4%), polypropylene homopolymer (PPH) (19.4%), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) (30.5%), high-density (HDPE) (5.5%) detected FTIR spectroscopy. findings showed that reached into higher altitudes areas due tourism activities.
