Childhood trauma (CT) is a known risk factor for major depressive disorder (MDD), but the mechanisms linking CT and MDD remain unknown. The purpose of this study was to examine influence depression diagnosis on subregions anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) in patients. The functional connectivity (FC) ACC evaluated 60 first-episode, drug-naïve patients (40 with moderate-to-severe 20 no or low CT), 78 healthy controls (HC) (19 59 CT). correlations between anomalous FC severity symptoms were investigated.Individuals moderate-to severe exhibited increased caudal middle frontal gyrus (MFG) than individuals CT, regardless diagnosis. showed lower dorsal superior (SFG) MFG. They also subgenual/perigenual temporal (MTG) angular (ANG) HCs, severity. left MFG mediated correlation Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) total score HAMD-cognitive patients.Functional changes MDD. Abstract Background Depression has been linked to disruptions in resting-state networks (RSNs). However, inconsistent findings on RSN disruptions, with variations reported connectivity within and between RSNs, complicate the understanding of neurobiological mechanisms underlying depression. Methods A systematic literature search PubMed Web Science identified studies that employed functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) explore changes Studies using seed-based analysis or independent component were included, coordinate-based meta-analyses performed evaluate alterations both networks. Results total 58 comprising 2321 patients depression 2197 healthy controls. The meta-analysis revealed significant connectivity, networks, compared Specifically, within-network included increased decreased default mode network (DMN) frontoparietal (FPN). Between-network showed DMN–FPN limbic (LN)–DMN DMN–somatomotor LN–FPN varied ventral attention (VAN)–dorsal attentional (DAN) connectivity. Additionally, a positive correlation was found illness duration VAN DAN. Conclusions These not only provide comprehensive characterization but also enhance our

There is a huge heterogeneity of magnetic resonance imaging findings in Parkinson's disease (PD) with impulse control disorders (ICDs) studies. Here, we hypothesized that brain regions identified by structural and functional studies PD ICDs could be reconciled common network. In this study, an initial systematic literature review was conducted to collect evaluate whole-brain related ICDs. We subsequently utilized the Human Connectome Project (HCP) dataset (n = 1,093) novel connectivity network mapping (FCNM) technique identify affected A total 19 25 contrasts, incorporating 345 individuals ICDs, 787 without were included analysis. By using HCP FCNM technique, ultimately aberrant neural networks predominantly involve default mode (middle inferior temporal gyrus, anterior cingulate cortex, angular gyrus) subcortical (caudate nucleus). This study suggests heterogeneous neuroimaging can attributed shared abnormalities networks. These dysfunctions are associated impaired self-regulation, decision-making, heightened impulsivity Our integrate diverse results from previous studies, providing clearer understanding neurobiological mechanisms underlying at level.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a disabling and severe psychiatric with high rate of prevalence, adolescence one the most probable periods for first onset. The neurobiological mechanism underlying adolescent MDD remains unexplored. In this study, we examined cortical subcortical alterations neuroanatomical structures spontaneous functional activation in 50 unmedicated adolescents vs. 39 healthy controls through combined structural resting-state magnetic resonance imaging.Significantly altered regional gray matter volume was found at broader frontal-temporal-parietal brain areas involved various forms information processing MDD. Specifically, increased GM left paracentral lobule right supplementary motor cortex significantly correlated depression severity Furthermore, lower thickness responsible visual auditory as well movements superior premotor subdivision positively course disease. Moreover, higher neuronal activity anterior cingulum medial prefrontal cortex, hyperactivity also negatively It potentially reflected rumination, impaired concentration, physiological arousal MDD.The abnormal findings cortico-subcortical implied dysfunctional cognitive control emotional regulations depression. might help elaborate neural mechanisms adolescents.

Phenotyping approaches grounded in structural network science can offer insights into the neurobiological substrates of psychiatric diseases, but this remains to be clarified at individual level social anxiety disorder (SAD). Using a recently developed approach combining probability density estimation and Kullback-Leibler divergence, we constructed single-subject covariance networks (SCNs) based on multivariate morphometry (cortical thickness, surface area, curvature, volume) quantified their global/nodal properties using graph-theoretical analysis. We compared metrics between SAD patients healthy controls (HC) analyzed relationship clinical characteristics. also used support vector machine analysis explore ability discriminate from HC. Globally, showed higher global efficiency, shorter characteristic path length, stronger small-worldness. Locally, abnormal nodal centrality mainly involving left superior frontal gyrus, right parietal lobe, amygdala, paracentral lingual, pericalcarine cortex. Altered topological were associated with symptom severity duration. Graph-based allowed classification versus HC total accuracy 78.7%. This finding, that organization SCNs is altered toward more randomized configurations, adds our understanding network-level neuropathology SAD.

At beginning third confinement announced by Portuguese government, 485 answered this study, mean age 41.9 years (min = 18, max 84; SD 12.9), 29.9% were men. Analyzes carried out to investigate association Big Five's factors with buying. Results showed that three behaviors under have significant positive correlations between them, they also correlate different traits. The each Five factor on differed. While conscientiousness was negatively openness positively associated agreeableness neuroticism correlated all consumer behaviors. Understanding contribute development a disorder may provide valuable insight into preventive measures effective treatment approaches for some debilitating disorders. opens ways investigating relating them It discusses pandemic future research directions involving other variables.
