This study aimed to estimate the association of time energy intake with weight status, diet quality, and sociodemographic characteristics in Brazil. cross-sectional used data from a nationally representative survey 44.744 individuals (≥10 years old). Food consumption was assessed by 24 h recall. The evening/morning ratio calculated, standardized, categorized tertiles. between status estimated using polynomial logistic regression models, differences across quality categories were considering non-overlapping 95% confidence intervals. Men, adolescents, adults, higher income level had greater evening intake. Those evening-to-morning 15% more likely be obese (OR = 1.15; CI 1.02 1.28), 21% less underweight 0.79; 0.64 0.98), reported total energy, protein, lipid intake, as well low-quality markers. Higher relative morning associated obesity, markers, characteristics. characterization can useful for tailoring targeting promotion actions controlling obesity epidemic.

Chronobiology, the study of biological rhythms, plays a crucial role in workplace well-being, influencing sleep, cognitive performance, and overall health. In 24/7 work culture, misalignment between schedules circadian rhythms leads to fatigue, reduced productivity, health risks. Understanding chronotypes—morning, evening, or intermediate—enables tailored scheduling enhance efficiency job satisfaction. Strategic interventions such as optimized lighting, flexible arrangements, structured breaks can mitigate disruption. By integrating chronobiology into policies, organizations foster healthier, more engaged employees while improving performance. This chapter explores scientific insights practical strategies align environments with natural advocating for shift towards evidence-based, employee-centered approaches.

Abstract There is increasing recognition of ‘higher preference for eveningness’ as a potential independent risk factor poor mental health. To examine the chronotype-mental health relationship while also quantifying roles sleep quality, relevant personality traits, and childhood trauma, we assessed 282 young adults (18–40 years; 195 females) residing in North India, between January March 2023 (to control seasonal variation), using self-report measures diurnal preference, patterns, (depression, anxiety, stress), traits (extraversion, neuroticism, schizotypy, impulsivity), trauma. The results showed significant association eveningness but this was fully mediated by quality. Neuroticism, emotional abuse cognitive disorganisation were correlated with well Neuroticism abuse, not disorganisation, had indirect effects on via Our findings highlight crucial role played quality relationship.

The pineal gland (PG) is a small interhemispheric brain structure that influences human physiology in many ways, most importantly via secretion of the hormone melatonin which known to regulate sleep and wakefulness. Here, we systematically reviewed existing neuroimaging studies PG structure, and/or release (MLT) psychosis mood disorders. Medline, PubMed, Web Science databases were searched (on 3 February 2023), yielding 36 (8 volume, 24 MLT). findings showed smaller-than-normal volume people with schizophrenia, regardless symptom severity illness stage; major depression, some indication this being present only certain subgroups, or those high scores on ‘loss interest’ symptom. There was considerable evidence lower-than-normal MLT as well aberrant pattern schizophrenia. A similar picture, though less consistent than seen emerged depression bipolar disorder, transient lowering following initiation antidepressants drug-withdrawn patients. Overall, aberrations appear represent transdiagnostic biomarkers for disorders, but further work needed establish their clinical correlates treatment implications.

Existing studies report contradictory findings regarding the association between chronotype and intelligence, particularly for morning testing. This study aimed to shed more light on by employing a multivariate approach considering variables that can potentially provide insight into nature of relationship. A sample university students (N = 123) completed Composite Scale Morningness followed an 8-day sleep diary actigraphy recording. At last recording, participants sampled their saliva five times cortisol assays took part in testing session (8:30–10:15) consisting completion intelligence tests, Dundee Stress State Questionnaire, sleepiness-alertness scales at beginning end session. Results showed no general chronotype, but eveningness was related better word comprehension. The strongest predictor task engagement, task-related distress. Eveningness lower absolute levels during 45 minutes since awakening, unrelated awakening response, linked higher subjective alertness It is concluded eventual effects intellectual performance are very weak be outweighed engagement.

Abstract Background Chronotype has gained recognition as a significant factor in enhancing athletic performance. This study aimed to deepen our understanding of athletes’ sleep chronotypes and provide foundation for developing evidence-based training competition programs. By comprehensively describing analyzing the chronotype characteristics Chinese professional athletes, considering individual sports factors, quality habits, mental energy, this research contribute valuable insights field. Methods A sample 1069 athletes from teams Shanghai completed Athlete Sleep Screening Questionnaire Mental Energy Scale assess chronotype, quality, sleep-influencing energy. Results Among typology fell within intermediate range, slightly leaning toward morningness. Male those who engaged static displayed greater propensity Age correlated with preference eveningness. High-level exhibited stronger inclination issues were associated an Daily caffeine intake habit using electronic devices before bedtime are also linked demonstrated ability predict various dimensions It was strongest predictor vigor, but loadings smaller than quality. Conclusion primarily exhibit distinct related factors such gender, discipline, ranking, well habits like consumption device use. Moreover, these patterns demonstrate predictive capabilities across all sheds light on unique attributes, enriching among under systems. These offer initial basis effectiveness athlete scheduling management.
