Vitis vinifera (grape) contains various compounds with acknowledged phytochemical and pharmacological properties. Among the different parts of plant, pomace is particular interest as a winemaking industry by-product. A characterization water extract from grape Montepulciano d'Abruzzo variety (Villamagna doc) was conducted, bioactive phenolic were quantified through HPLC-DAD-MS analysis. HypoE22, hypothalamic cell line, challenged an oxidative stimulus exposed to concentrations (1 µg/mL-1 mg/mL) for 24, 48, 72 h. In same conditions, cells sole catechin, in concentration range (5-500 ng/mL) consistent catechin level extract. Cell proliferation investigated by MTT assay, dopamine release HPLC-EC method, PGE2 amount ELISA kit, expressions neurotrophin brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) RT-PCR. The reverted cytotoxicity exerted at all experimental times dose-dependent manner, whereas able revert stress-induced depletion 48 h after stimulus. also effective preventing downregulation BDNF concomitant upregulation COX-2 gene expression. accordance, augmented stress conditions administration grace which equally effective. These results suggest that neuroprotection induced could be ascribed, albeit partially, its content.

Metastasis of tumor cells is a complex challenge and significantly diminishes the overall survival prognosis cancer patients. The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) well-known mechanism responsible for invasiveness cells. A number molecular pathways can regulate EMT in nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) one them. translocation NF-κB p65 induce transcription several genes involved induction. present review describes interaction their association progression. Due to oncogenic role signaling, its activation enhances metastasis via This has been confirmed various cancers including brain, breast, lung gastric cancers, among others.
