Vitis vinifera (grape) contains various compounds with acknowledged phytochemical and pharmacological properties. Among the different parts of plant, pomace is particular interest as a winemaking industry by-product. A characterization water extract from grape Montepulciano d'Abruzzo variety (Villamagna doc) was conducted, bioactive phenolic were quantified through HPLC-DAD-MS analysis. HypoE22, hypothalamic cell line, challenged an oxidative stimulus exposed to concentrations (1 µg/mL-1 mg/mL) for 24, 48, 72 h. In same conditions, cells sole catechin, in concentration range (5-500 ng/mL) consistent catechin level extract. Cell proliferation investigated by MTT assay, dopamine release HPLC-EC method, PGE2 amount ELISA kit, expressions neurotrophin brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) RT-PCR. The reverted cytotoxicity exerted at all experimental times dose-dependent manner, whereas able revert stress-induced depletion 48 h after stimulus. also effective preventing downregulation BDNF concomitant upregulation COX-2 gene expression. accordance, augmented stress conditions administration grace which equally effective. These results suggest that neuroprotection induced could be ascribed, albeit partially, its content.

In this study, a comparison was made of the chemical makeup different extracts obtained from Gracilaria bursa-pastoris, type red seaweed that gathered Nador lagoon situated in northern part Morocco. Additionally, their anti-diabetic and antioxidant properties were investigated. The application GC-MS technology to analyze fatty acid content samples revealed linoleic eicosenoic most abundant unsaturated acids across all samples, with palmitic oleic following frequency. HPLC analysis indicated ascorbic kojic prevalent phenolic compounds, while apigenin common flavonoid molecule. aqueous extract exhibited significant levels polyphenols flavonoids, registering values 381.31 ± 0.33 mg GAE/g 201.80 0.21 QE/g, respectively. Furthermore, particular demonstrated remarkable ability scavenge DPPH radicals, as evidenced by its IC50 value 0.17 0.67 mg/mL. addition, methanolic found possess properties, prevent β-carotene discoloration, an ranging 0.062 0.02 mg/mL 0.070 0.06 vitro study showed significantly inhibited enzymatic activity α-amylase α-glucosidase. Finally, molecular docking models applied assess interaction between primary phytochemicals identified G. bursa-pastoris human pancreatic α-glucosidase enzymes. findings suggest these contain bioactive substances capable reducing enzyme more effectively than commercially available drug acarbose.

Caffeic acid (CA) is a polyphenol belonging to the phenylpropanoid family, commonly found in plants and vegetables. It was first identified by Hlasiwetz 1867 as breakdown product of caffetannic acid. CA biosynthesized from amino acids tyrosine or phenylalanine through specific enzyme-catalyzed reactions. Extensive research since its discovery has revealed various health benefits associated with CA, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer properties. These effects are attributed ability modulate several pathways, such inhibiting NFkB, STAT3, ERK1/2, thereby reducing inflammatory responses, activating Nrf2/ARE pathway enhance antioxidant cell defenses. The consumption been linked reduced risk certain cancers, mitigation chemotherapy radiotherapy-induced toxicity, reversal resistance first-line chemotherapeutic agents. This suggests that could serve useful adjunct cancer treatment. Studies have shown be generally safe, few adverse (such back pain headaches) reported. review collates latest information Google Scholar, PubMed, Phenol-Explorer database, ClinicalTrials.gov, incorporating total 154 articles, underscore potential prevention overcoming chemoresistance.
