The great success of controlled radical polymerizations has encouraged researchers to develop more facile and robust approaches for surface-initiated (SIPs) fabricate polymer brushes, even non-experts. In recent years, external-stimuli-mediated polymerization methods have come the fore as SIPs because their less rigorous synthetic procedures high controllability, which expand opportunities synthesizing macromolecules with desired chemical compositions structures, well tailor-made polymers bioconjugates that show broad applicability physiological compatibility. The enhancement of tribological properties represents a pivotal strategy for achieving energy efficiency and environmental protection. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanomaterials have been garnering significant attention due to their exemplary the abundance titanium reserves. present review is concerned with study TiO2 in lubricants. various synthesis methods are presented. dispersion stability these lubricating oils discussed depth, as well strategies improve stability, such enhancing compatibility base oils, reducing dynamic light scattering (DLS) particle size, modulating zeta potential, optimizing drying step. Aggregation instability remain key challenges nanomaterials, especially bare nanoparticles (NPs). Modern biomedical technologies predict the application of materials and devices that not only can comply effectively with specific requirements, but also enable remote control their functions. One most prospective for these advanced applications are based on temperature-responsive polymer brush coatings (TRPBCs).
