Abstract Thermochromic photonic crystal (PC) is a promising material for anti‐counterfeiting applications, but there are still challenges to further improve the performance and practicability in usage. Here, disposable thermally triggered PC tag with irreversible response multi‐step color changes developed based on thermochromic Silica/(Polyethylene glycol‐Ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate) (SiO 2 /(PEG‐ETPTA)) double‐layer film. The fast thermal come from quick melting infiltration of PEG‐ETPTA into PCs upon heating. change at different temperatures originated regioselective control UV curing degree layer resulting temperature Therefore, invisible pattern can be revealed part by heating became again after overheating, which offered diversified visual effects enhanced performances.

Abstract Structural color is a remarkable physical phenomenon that exists widely in nature. Unlike traditional rendering methods, they are realized mainly through micro/nanostructures interfere, diffract, scatter light, and exhibit long‐life environmental‐friendly effects. In nature, few organisms use their color‐changing system to transmit information, such as courtship, warning, or disguise. Meanwhile, some natural inorganic minerals can also structural colors. Learning from scientists have achieved large‐scale design manufacturing technology for artificial photonic crystals. Photonic crystals unique microstructure forms band gap under the action of periodic potential field, consequently causing Bragg scattering due arrangement different refractive index media within them.
