Triclocarban (TCC) is a common antimicrobial agent that has been widely used in medical care. Given the close association between TCC treatment and metabolic disorders, we assessed whether long-term to at human-relevant concentration could induce nephrotoxicity by disrupting levels mouse model. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) was applied investigate alterations spatial distributions abundances of TCC, endogenous exogenous metabolites kidney after treatment. The results showed induced changes organ weight, coefficient histopathology kidney. MSI data reveled accumulated all regions kidney, while its five mainly distributed cortex regions. 79 biomolecules associated with pathways leukotriene E4 metabolism, biosythesis degradation glycerophospholipids glycerolipids, ceramide-to-sphingomyelin signaling were significantly altered These distinctive displayed favorable correlation pathological damage. This work offers new insights into related mechanisms TCC-induced nephrotocicity exhibits potential MALDI-MSI-based metabolomics as promising approach for risk assessment agents

Treated sewage sludge, or biosolids, are used worldwide to improve soil quality and fertility due their high organic matter content micro- macronutrients. However, biosolids also introduce contaminants into the environment. This review assessed recent publications on occurrence, environmental fate, transportation mechanisms of 419 emerging concern (CEC) across four matrices: soils, dust. Among these, 229 CECs were positively detected at least once. The focuses various CECs, including 18 therapeutical classes pharmaceutical products, personal care products (parabens chlorophenolic antimicrobials), hormones, plastic-related compounds (bisphenols phthalates), rubber antioxidants (substituted diphenylamines para-phenylenediamines), neonicotinoid insecticides. Phthalates dominate biosolid composition, accounting for over 97% total weight investigated, followed by pharmaceuticals (1.87%), (0.57%), hormones (0.09%), (0.07%), bisphenols (0.05%). 50 most prevalent include phthalates [e.g., di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate-DEHP, butyl benzyl phthalate-BBzP], antifungals (e.g., miconazole-MCZ, ketoconazole-KTZ), antimicrobials triclocarban-TCC, triclosan-TCS), fluoroquinolone antibiotics ofloxacin-OFL, ciprofloxacin-CPF), cardiovascular medications telmisartan-TMS, propafenone-PPF), analgesics salicylic acid-SA, naproxen-NPX), mestranol-EEME, progesterone-P), antidepressants sertraline-SRT, amitriptyline-AMT), lipid regulators fenofibrate-FNF). Analytical techniques like matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) have emerged as a valuable tool qualitative analysis, allowing identifying in biosolids. fate transport dynamics studied influenced physicochemical properties (water solubility, volatility, degradation time, sorption capacity, bioaccumulation potential) conditions (temperature, pH, moisture content). Furthermore, characteristics, such matter, microbial activity, play key roles adsorption, degradation, persistence environments. Additionally, wastewater treatment processes impact transformation removal affecting partitioning between treated effluents sludge.
