Nitrate pollution is widespread environmental concern in most shallow groundwater systems. This study conducts a comprehensive investigation of groundwater, deep and surface water region the Chinese Loess Plateau. this area severe with more than half samples exceeding limit nitrate for drinking (50 mg/L). Temporal variation reveals continued increase although fertilizer use has been reduced, recently. Spatially, much lower that supporting anthropogenic origin from surface. The intrinsic vulnerability index indicates less susceptibility loess aquifer to comparison alluvial aquifer. However, high levels are observed both aquifers. risk assessment combined loads explains occurrence precisely. Agricultural inputs release sewage-effluents major contributions hydrogeochemical evidence. aquifer, which supposed be susceptible contamination, non-negligible factor. Control long-standing issue will require sustained monitoring.

Surface waters are very important for society, as they a source of potable water, well water supply agricultural, industrial and recreational purposes. This paper presents changes in the quality Utrata River, along its entire length, function catchment area’s land use. Water-quality measurements were carried out once month total period one year (April 2019–March 2020) at 24 measurement points. The concentrations following compounds measured: phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen nitrate nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand. results compared with limit values specified Regulation Minister Maritime Economy Inland Navigation. In order to determine impact use on principal component analyses (PCA) conducted. research demonstrated considerably negative agricultural presence urban areas elevated COD, decreasing oxygen. presented point need effective strategies mitigate adverse agriculture urbanisation environment surface waters.
