Per- and polyfluoroalkyl ether acids (PFEAs) are a subclass of per- substances (PFAS) that detected with increasing frequency in environmental matrices. Diet can be an important route PFEA exposure, but the presence PFEAs food is poorly understood. Extraction methods for samples exist traditionally studied PFAS, their suitability other novel PFAS remains unknown. In this study, extraction matrix cleanup method was developed to quantify 45 including 13 PFEAs, 3 perfluoroalkane sulfonamides, 6 fluorotelomer carboxylic 10 types fruits vegetables. Homogenized were extracted basic methanol, resulting extracts diluted water cleaned up using solid-phase weak anion-exchange cartridges. The validated by performing spike-recovery experiments at spike levels 1 ng/g all matrices 0.1 2 For without corresponding isotopically labeled internal standard (IS), adopting IS similar chromatographic retention time generated most accurate recoveries. Dependent upon matrix, recoveries 38-44 (including 10-13 PFEAs) fell within 50-150% spiked ng/g. Recoveries 40 38 blueberries corn, respectively, Method quantification limits (MQLs) pure solvents determined as lowest calibration level accuracy between 70 130%. To compensate effects, factor applied on basis analyte response different relative solvent. MQLs ranged from 0.025 0.25 Overall, capable sensitively quantifying many

Contamination of soils with poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) has been reported worldwide stabilization is recognized as an effective approach for in situ remediation. In this study, biochar, GAC, RemBind® 100, 100X were evaluated respect to their performance stabilizing 10 PFAS soil. The results indicated that compared unamended controls, decreased the water acidic leachable by 99%. This was irrespective chain length. Further aging sorbents soil did not cause any release stabilized PFAS. Amendment biochar same at dose led significant decrease leaching long short PFAS, such PFBS, PFHxA, GenX, PFHpA however, significantly lower than those other sorbents. Interestingly, increasing contact time improved sorption these short-chained biochar.

Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are widely present in agricultural soils, but their sources and fate greenhouse soils remain unclear. In this study, the sources, fractionation, migration of PFASs were compared open-field Fen-Wei Plain, China. The total concentrations (Σ17PFAS) comparable with different profiles. Detrended correspondence correlation analyses indicated that dry deposition was an important source whereas surface water had a notable contribution to due more frequent irrigation. mainly water-soluble fraction (F1). F1 proportions short-chain long-chain negatively correlated anion exchange capacity (AEC) organic carbon content (foc) soil, respectively, being higher than ones. AEC significantly while foc lower soil leading for ones soil. Frequent irrigation elevated temperatures promoted soil; thus, Σ17PFAS exhibited increasing trend depth.
